What the OP mention, actually happens to me quite a bit, but only on downhills; on flat ground or uphills, the drag is normal and what you'd usually expect for 'Engaged'.
But let me take advantage of this question to ask another relevant one in this context. My question is, how many of you, when going downhill with no danger around, use the dial to shift into N (Neutral) to 'turn off' the regeneration and braking, letting the car coast for a good while before shifting back into D (Drive)? I’ve never heard of anyone else having this habit, and I don't even know if it could do any harm to the car?!

I'm always in 1pd. I just feather the accelerator pedal until I find the coast spot. I do that a lot — every drive, honestly, as we live on the side of a dormant volcano. There's no such thing as flat in these parts. But going to neutral only happens when I'm about to clean the rotors after a wash.

I would sometimes do this in my ICE cars that were equiped with 3 pedal drive to maximize MPG. There's little to no advantage to doing it in an EV since regen will harvest some of the potential energy gain, but Whisper mode will get you pretty close to the same feeling.

True, unless you are going downhill, where you can really feel the regen even on Whisper, but you don't want to feel "dragged." šŸ˜‚

Step on the right pedal.
That is the main issue. On my previous EVs, I was able to roll downhill without any regen whatsoever (even in D) if I wanted to. But with the Mach-E I can't; it is one of the very few things I still haven't gotten used to.

Yep. finally got to check it out because busy with some medical procedures and I did have the thing in "L" by mistake. I have never used it and never thought to check that, Thanks to all for your input.
