So this is the way Ford views it. You may start to see this in the next couple of years. I think they missed a good opportunity to give dealers the the chance to give the customer a break at purchase to get a lifetime subscription on the car.

whether it’s OnStar or some other fee-based subscription service, don’t all car companies charge for ongoing connectivity?

They've gotta find some kind of value-add to replace the revenue they're losing in the service department

My navigation expired 12 days ago. In my tests the navigation still works except for a few things. You can still set an address for navigation. Weather does not show, traffic is still enabled, but I have not noticed it showing in the graphics. You cannot search for chargers from the navigation. Long trips will still set up charging stops. However, and this is a big however, you cannot select fast chargers only. In a trip I tested from Mass to Florida had a lot of slow chargers selected. Total of 14 hours of charging time.

You can still select chargers from the Charge assist app and click to navigate to the charger from there.

The expired navigation allows for way more funtionalities than I have expected. You can still use ABRP for long trips. Or pay the $80 for the Ford Navigation.
