I’ve never actually had my phone not unlock my car, but if it should happen, I would use my key code on the door and then either use my password on the screen to start the car, or open the frunk and get the fob out of faraday bag in the the safe.

Faraday bags don't work 100% - They block some of the signal, but it's very difficult to block the signal completely. In a lot of cases the car will still unlock and start if the fob is close enough to the antenna. You should always thoroughly test the faraday bag to see if the key will unlock and start the car or not while it's in the bag.

Faradays bags aren't necessary IMO, you can just lock the fob inside the car by holding the [7-8] and [9-0] buttons. Upon return, enter your access code to unlock the car. If you lock a fob inside the car, it remembers not to respond to it to unlock the vehicle, so you have to enter the code or use a different fob. However if someone smashes the window, they will be able to start and steal your car with the fob inside. For outdoor recreation, I recommend leaving the fob at home, use PAAK, and take the phone with you. Disable Bluetooth if you must lock your phone in the car.

Personally I would never use Faraday bags due to their wonky behavior, I rely on the above and actual physical separation only.

I have this one. I haven’t used it as you suggested, but rather to avoid communication between the car and the fob while home. Have had a few ‘no key detected’ messages when inside the car, so I think it would work for you.

Yes, exact same here; cheap and works prefectly.

Random question, how do I find or see my pass code I sent up? Seems I've forgotten it since my car has been at the body shop so long... can I see it on my in-car screen?

Also. Love the idea of the bag to keep it close but not activating the car and such!

What are your thoughts on aluminum foil? I've been using that for a long time with no issues.

Since the car itself is faraday cage, aluminum foil works as well as saran wrap, or parchment paper. ? ??

This works, it’s cheap and durable! Use Velcro tape and stick it inside one of the plastic under body panels.

When I need to leave the key on the car I use a faraday bag locked inside a safe. I don’t want someone who’s just smashed my window to be able to simply press the start button and drive off. Mission Darkness bags have always worked for me.

Try it. I did by accident. When I first got my Lightning, I locked the key inside before setting key code, locked it by pressing to lower buttons on the keypad, and could not get in without getting my 2nd fob.
That is one way to learn a lesson. Fortunately I have been using the same door code on every Ford since the mid 90s so it is the first thing I do.

It still only attenuates the signal. ??

My recommendation is to remove the battery. Keeping the battery in the fob means it will be losing energy continuously. You are more likely to have a working fob longer if you take the battery out. You can also start the car and drive without inserting the batteries into the fob, but only if you know the one spot to place the fob.

Cheap Faraday bags work just as well as your spell checker. They’re usually fine but sometimes not.

There are folks who have had the sync screen refuse to present the keyboard to enter the backup start code
