??? The whole point is to prevent the car from detecting the key.
If the fob is locked in the car, it will not let you open it without another fob, key pad code, or PAAK.

So, if you're outside the car and the fob is locked inside, it doesn't matter whether you wrap it in something or not. If you're both inside, why bother. If you're both outside, why bother.

I've been using the faraday bag pictured in post #2 for a year or so now. It has been invaluable when PAAK let's me down. It works so well that I can program my wife's key fob while mine is in the faraday pouch a few feet away. Even with the key fob in a faraday bag in the car, a thief would still have to gain entry and then find the fob to use it. I'm not worried. The convivence outweighs the risk.
Note: The preceding is my personal opinion and is not meant to imply that Ford Motor Company or or any other human being agrees with my opinion. My wife did agree with my opinion but my brother in law from hell convinced her I am wrong. I'd like to put him in a faraday bag.

Your PAAK isn't working. So you enter the car with the door code, retrieve the fob and everything is back to normal. It has saved me many hours of aggravation when PAAK stopped working. If you don't think it's worthwhile don't use it.

Faraday bags don't work 100% - They block some of the signal, but it's very difficult to block the signal completely. In a lot of cases the car will still unlock and start if the fob is close enough to the antenna. You should always thoroughly test the faraday bag to see if the key will unlock and start the car or not while it's in the bag.

Faradays bags aren't necessary IMO, you can just lock the fob inside the car by holding the [7-8] and [9-0] buttons. Upon return, enter your access code to unlock the car. If you lock a fob inside the car, it remembers not to respond to it to unlock the vehicle, so you have to enter the code or use a different fob. However if someone smashes the window, they will be able to start and steal your car with the fob inside. For outdoor recreation, I recommend leaving the fob at home, use PAAK, and take the phone with you. Disable Bluetooth if you must lock your phone in the car.

Personally I would never use Faraday bags due to their wonky behavior, I rely on the above and actual physical separation only.
The Faraday bag pictured in post #2 has worked for me 100% of the time. Perhaps you are not using it correctly. Check the directions that came with the bag.

Since the car is already a faraday cage, sticking it into another faraday cage (a cheapo chinese made pouch), does not do anything. It's almost like giving a placebo to a hypochondriac.

If you guys don't think that the car is a faraday cage, then we have a different discussion.

I have found the Mission Darkness farrady fob pouch by MOS Equipment to be excellent.

My solution to problems with PAAK is simple. I don’t use it. I understand other people love PAAK, which is fine. Each to their own.

I have this one. I haven’t used it as you suggested, but rather to avoid communication between the car and the fob while home. Have had a few ‘no key detected’ messages when inside the car, so I think it would work for you.

I also use this one and it works fine.

The why bother part is an attempt to keep a smash and grabber from driving the car off. As stated previously, the cheap bags available (and a lot of the expensive ones) only attenuate the signal. Without a bag the car is almost sure to start. With it, it probably won’t but could. Just don’t leave the key in the car. Period. It’s a huge security risk. ?‍♂?

Also note that if the key is left in the car, the person who has gotten access to it can reset everything and remove the car from your FordPass account. Would you leave a signed copy of your deed sitting out in your home for a thief? ??

Absent a PAAK, If you place your key fob inside your "Mach E faraday cage" and push the start button the car will start. If you place your key fob inside a faraday pouch inside your "Mach E faraday cage" the car will not start. How is that, the pouch not doing anything? The Mache E is a faraday cage in the sense that it will protect you from lighting. But it will not stop electromagnetic fields. If it did you would not be able to start, unlock, etc. the car remotely.

I use this one, and keep the key in the center console. I use PAAK with great success, however, I took the car to the dealership, when I had a tire issue, but didn’t have the key. So I had to leave my phone in the car while they worked on it. After that, I got this and keep the key in the car for emergencies.

I have a FOB in a pouch in the glove box. It's a back up incase PAAK fails and it's there so I don't forget to take one to the dealer for service appointments

One of the reasons I love Ford vehicles is the exterior keypad. I do a few outdoor sports where it is handy to leave the key in the vehicle and simply use the exterior keypad to get back in. But it seems like leaving the key in the Mach e would let anyone get into a take the car... not good.

Im wondering if anyone has tried to use a faraday case or bag for the key? Im hoping this would let me leave the key in the car but not communicating with the car.
Do you also leave your phone in the car? If not set up PAAK ( phone as a key). I really never carry a key fob. I just use PAAK. Also have a code set up for if the PAAK fails.
