I was able to find a 6 inch cable, no clutter at all.
“Less” =/= “No”.
I totally get what you’re saying, and if it works for you that’s great. But, for me, id rather keep that package tray clear. It’s a personal thing for me... if I put anything there, I’ll put everything there, so I choose to not put anything there. That said, if the charger worked well, I’d happily put just my phone there. ?‍♂

So to sum up this thread, and ones like it, MME wireless charger and iphone 12 equals pretty much useless. Is that about right? Maybe better to just but an Apple wireless puck and plug it in?

I have a galaxy S10 with a case that has a built in metal kickstand. It will charge wirelessly but during the course of normal driving it will stop and start again. Also, because i use android auto wirelessly, it causes the phone to get hot and the wireless charging makes it get even hotter, so I usually just stick it in the cupholder or plug in if I'll be driving long distances. The wireless charging is not enough to offset the loss in battery from using wireless android auto

I have an iPhone 12. Won't charge. My kids have an iPhone X and an iPhone 11. Both charge just fine.

I ended up buying a wireless MagSafe puck and putting on the right side of the tray. Works fine.

I tried searching for this but the keywords, like phone and charging, bring up an awful lot of results as you can imagine. If someone knows of and wants to point me to a relevant thread, please do.

Anyway, I got my car a week ago and have been loving it. One thing I'm NOT impressed with is the wireless charging pad (using an iPhone 12 Pro). I'm lucky if it stays in charging mode for a minute. I can nudge it in another direction and it'll start charging again...for a minute. I've tried it without the phone case and even without the rubber mat that sits in the charging shelf there. Same result.

Is this common or do I perhaps have an issue specific to my car, phone, or person!?
Someone on here posted a little adapter they made for their iPhone. The issue is that if the phone moves, it'll lose the "sweet spot" for wirelessly charging iphones. The little 3d printed adapter they made (and posted on the forum) holds the iPhone in the right spot.

Got one of those printed adapters for $8, but it does not work with my case. Spent $10 on a 6 inch USB-C plug, works every time!

Wireless charging always works with a cable. ??

This is certainly my conclusion, though if anyone has an Apple leather case, I'd love to hear whether that 3D printed piece does the trick for them. That obviously makes for a very limited solution given the vast array of cases out there, but is also telling (that the iPhone 12 has to be in an EXACT location to charge longer than a minute or so).

I'm tempted to get a puck for the car as well. What I'd love to see is some sort of 3D printed piece or the like that would keep the puck in place, so that you can still one hand it instead of having to peel the phone off and put the puck back in place. Otherwise, it's not that much more convenient than just plugging in a cord. I know Nomad makes this mount, but $100? Seriously? Currently at a pre-order price of $80, but still.

Hmmm....Command Strip the puck in the tray??

It is not a exact location issue, even stationairy on my driveway it won't keep charging while my partners iPhone 11 never fails...it is specific for the 12, so magsafe related or software related specific for the 12:mad:

Yeah, hard to argue with that. I'm going the puck/Command Strip route! Not as clean but it'll, you know, actually charge the damn phone!

And so this is exactly what I've been doing, though I just have the Command Strip sitting in the tray unused because I haven't felt the need.

But, insult to injury, I am getting this annoying message that I have to dismiss each time it pops up (though that doesn't seem to be every day...?): "This USB device is not supported. Please remove. [Close]"

I get that they think of this as a data connection, but really? It's just a charging puck. I have to whine about these nits because it's all I have...haha. Loving the car otherwise.
