This is an issue I had when routinely charging at home with the Ford Charging station at our home when we purchased our 2024 Mach-E this year. We used the Preferred Charge Times option in the app and it has worked great, but tonight, I kept getting a charge error each time. After unplugging it and retrying with the same result, I ended up calling the Support Center. This was a very pleasant experience I have to say. “Jalesa” from the Customer Relationship Center answered the call promptly (no wait time), we confirmed the usual stuff and I was put on hold while she did some quick research.

She found a known problem in some charging stations that had received a recent OTA update that seemed to impact those who used the Preferred Charge Times. Supposedly, this will reset itself within 24 hours, which we cannot confirm until tomorrow at the earliest. The workaround was simply to delete the preferred charge times and plug it in manually. It is charging now.

Thought this might be helpful to anyone else that might experience this problem. I cannot say enough about how nice it was to make a support call with someone who was not only helpful in resolving the issue quickly, but was a pleasure to talk to.

My vehicle fails to charge in my garage about one to three times a year. The most recent failure was about one week ago.

Is it because of wifi updates to the Connected Charge Station? I doubt it, but I also do not know. I've no idea when or if it ever updates, I haven't seen a revision history, and the app can't show me the currently installed software. It always crashes while loading that screen.

Pretty lame stuff. At least the charging itself is mostly reliable, aside for those 1-3 times per year.

I had my first Ford Charging Station fail. It took 6 weeks to negotiate with Ford and finally have it replaced since it was not quite 4 months old when it failed. The service team, and Jasmine specifically, was very pleasant and helpful. With the first unit, I never had any issues until the day it just failed.

The new one was installed a couple of weeks ago and I have had 3 failed charges since then. I do use preferred charging times. This morning, after finding it failed again and having only 55 miles on my car and heading to work for a 70 mile round trip, I decided that I will turn off preferred charging times so that it shows me immediately if it is going to fail charging. It is interesting to learn the preferred charging time is the issue. Thank you for posting!

my 2024 Select with a Ford Pro charger has given me errors a few times, but it seems to only happen when I arrive in my garage with a hot car/battery and plug it in immediately. My solution has been to park and wait for it to cool down, then connect it later. For example, I might arrive home at 5pm, I wait until 8pm to plug it in, then it will automatically start charging at the 10pm time I have set. This has worked for me so far, just in case you want to give it a try.

That’s a very similar process to ours…most of our driving ends well before 5 pm, we typically plug in around 7 pm and the auto charge would start at 10, like you. Never had a problem until now. We will be reprogram our preferred times later this week to see if has been resolved.
