still stuck with no access to trunk. Really weird my app isn’t acknowledging the car is in valet mode
I suggest you go in FordPass app, Account, Help and chat or call Ford directly.

tried this. Roadside assistance was zero help. They directed me to consumer affairs who is closed for the weekend.

I called a local dealership who said it would take a few days to get the car back to me

How about placing your FOB into the slot inside the center console bin? (this let's the car detect the FOB even if the FOB battery is dead)

nope didn’t work, thanks for the suggestion though.
Unfortunately still stuck here with some luggage I’d love to put in the trunk (at a hotel and checking out today)

Hopefully I’m allowed to fast charge while in valet mode…

quick update - the car is no longer in valet mode after plugging into to a dc charger.

I did not do anything. it just started right up as if it wasn’t in valet mode. I’m relieved but a little worried about how unpredictable the car is acting.

I do concede that initially, it was my fault I forgot the pin. I don’t believe however, that I never guessed the right pin, considering there are only a handful of combinations I would ever use. Combined with the fact that the FordPass never saw the car in valet mode and the abrupt end to it, I’m definitely suspicious about this whole thing.

Either way, I’m relieved it’s over. Back to my regularly scheduled podcasts on road trips. Thanks all for the help and suggestions.

Glad it’s back to normal. Honestly, I would’t bother with valet mode. Just give the valet a fob.

There are two valet modes but you don't get to pick which one is used. In classic valet mode, you pick a pin and the valet is locked out of being able to look at things like your phone contacts. In this mode you don't share the pin with the valet -- you hand them your key-fob. This is the mode that the car will use if you didn't set up PaaK.

If you DID set up PaaK (and it sounds like you did) then you get the modern valet mode. In that mode you DO share the code with the valet and you don't give them the key-fob. The idea is that if you rely on PaaK and don't have a key-fob with you ... you probably don't want to give the valet your phone. This is a way to let the valet drive the car without needing either a key-fob or your phone. But ... in this mode you do NOT get to choose the pin. The car will select a new random 8-digit code each time you activate the mode. The first 5 digits of the 8-digit code unlock the door. Use all 8-digits to start the car.

I haven't used the valet code in a while ... but the last two times I used it, I recall it sent a message to me via the Ford Pass "Message Center" reminding me of the code.

I'd suggest you test it at home with pen and paper. Activate the mode, write down the code. See if it ALSO sends you a message with the code. You could also take the phone away (or turn off Bluetooth and WiFi so the phone can't talk to the car) ... shut the car off and exit the car. Lock it. Use the valet codes to unlock it and restart the car. Then re-enable Bluetooth and Wifi on your phone, let the app connect to the car, and see if you don't get prompted to disable valet mode once it re-establishes connection with your phone.
