I just recently replaced the rear springs and sway bar. Also replaced the front sway bar. Finally received front Ford Springs that were on back order for months from Ford. I am at my Ford dealership now getting the front springs replaced. The technician just informed me that the GT springs I want installed do not fit on the factory struts. Does anyone out there aware of this issue. I have been informed by a few folks on this forum regarding replacing springs and sway bars for a better ride that there was no mention about having to replace the struts also. Note: there was no problem installing the rear GT springs. This is on my 2024 Premium AWD extended MMM.

Fred, I am confused about what you are saying. Your title reads front Rally springs but your message says GT springs. Which is it? You installing Rally or GT springs? In any case, both springs will fit any front strut.

Now, I am going to assume you are installing Ford OEM Rally springs for a smoother ride. I have personally installed many sets OEM Rally springs on every model Mach-E. Select, Premium, CA Rte 1, GT, GTPE with Magneride shocks/struts, AWD, RWD, STD and EX batteries. All the front struts that I have seen have looked exactly the same shape and the Rally springs fit every one of them.

Within the last 3 weeks, I've installed Rally springs and Eibach sway bars on a '21 Premium AWD, STD battery, '25 Premium RWD STD battery, '23 GTPE AWD EX battery. No issues whatsoever. On the front, the OEM springs should have a white parts tag located on the second coil down from the top. When installing the new springs to make sure they are oriented correctly, make sure the white manufacturing number tag on the new springs is also towards the top on the front springs, usually on the second coil down. On the rear springs, the manufacturing number tag is at the bottom.

If you have any questions, DM me and we can talk about this further. Mark

Yes you are right they are rally springs. Im sorry I thought they were the same. They are the OEM springs you recommend to use instead of the after market springs. According to a Google posting if GT springs are used the struts should be replaced. The Ford part number I have is RK9Z 5310-A

You do not need to replace the struts. Sure, you can replace them but it's an expense you don't need.

Ok. Just talked to parts department. The rally springs I purchased from Ford do not fit on the existing struts as the diameter of the springs I purchased from Ford are smaller so they don’t fit properly on the current installed struts. The parts department has no fix for the issue. He seems to think the springs I purchased are GT springs not rally springs. So had to pay $300 labor to put original spring back on. Luckily the technician removed just one strut. I guess I will be satisfied with the rear springs replacement.

I’m wondering if the springs I purchased from Ford were missed labeled with the incorrect part number. I am going further on the issue and try to get some actual diameter measurements on the springs to see if they match the Ford part number I received.

Mark has installed a lot of these and the spring pan dimensions are the same regardless of whether the car is a RWD Select, an AWD Premium, a non-Magneride GT, or a GT-PE (or 2024+ GT with Magneride). If the springs you got have the wrong diameter, they were not for the Mach-E. Mark has posted photos of the Rally springs to a few threads side by side with the stock springs and they are the same in diameter. If the springs were indeed for the Mach-E, the installer probably attempted to install them upside-down. 🤔🐩

I just saw that Steve posted and basically said what I was gong to say. Every spring, and believe me I have many sets from all different trims of Mach-E's are the same diameter (within 1/4"). Every spring should fit every strut because the perch it sits on are ALL the same size (diameter). The main difference between the springs are length and thickness of the coil.

That said, the springs you got must of been for something else. Maybe an ICE Mustang? I don't know but you said it took weeks to get those springs and so far pretty much everyone that has been ordering them for me to install has gotten them very quickly.

Not sure how you can be satisfied with just the rears when it raises the car about an inch and the front will still be low. Won't look correct not handle as well as it should. We need to figure this out....

When I installed John's GT with the Rally springs, I measured them but didn't keep the measurements. I think he may have posted them on his thread. Yes he did, just found it:

I want to thank you guys for helping me out with my springs issue. Thanks so much for the spring measurements. Someone mentioned that maybe the tech had the wrong end of the spring. I have not measured mine yet, but I would think they would be the same diameter, and I might be dead wrong. Yes, I would really like to complete the installation. My wife seems to think the ride is a little better with the new rear springs.

I mean it is not night and day but it is much better than with the standard springs and basically rides like my Escape did, like a more normal SUV instead of a sporty one.

So about them being upside down, the top coil ends in mostly a perfect circle while the bottom is more oval. You can EASILY install them upside down and they would still fit and work, just not as good because the bottom won't fit well in the rubber insulator as well if the spring is reversed but it will work.
