Frunk remote open 3x click - mistake

I went to my car today and accidentally triple clicked the trunk button on my remote fob to open up the rear. To my surprise the frunk popped.

Is this new functionality? I've had my car over a year and I've never known this, am I the only one not to know this?

Edit: Now I feel like an idiot, I went out to do a video I took my spare key and I tried it and the front pops. But then I checked out my key, and somebody swapped out my main key and my spare key. So my triple click was actually a double click on the front trunk button on my lightning key. I didn't realize the front trunk button replaced the rear button. And looking at it I didn't even notice it when it happened. Thing is I tried three times and thought for sure I'd figured out a new feature. So please just ignore my stupidity

You must have a magical car. After I read your post I tried triple clicking numerous times. The rear liftgate opened but no movement on the frunk. How did you do that?

It must have happened with an update. This is the first time it's happened, granted I don't open my trunk that often so I can't tell you when this change happened. I thought it was a mistake. I really didn't even notice the frunk open until I got in the car and had the warning that it was ajar. I thought it was weird as I didn't remember popping it. I got out I shut the front. I triple pressed and it popped. I shut it and did it again and it popped again. So I concluded this was a feature I had just missed. I'm wondering which update this was added in? I just got the audio enhancement update about a week ago. There was that other update that came out recently that talked about groupings that I did get, that would make the most sense to me where they added it. Did you get that update? I got that prior to the audio one.

I can go out later and make a video of me doing this, it's work several times so I'm sure it'll work if I do a video.

I just checked. The last update I have is from about 1 - 2 months ago dealing with adding Tesla SC, not counting the FordPass 5.0 update. I just triple clicked again with the same result. I even tried 4 clicks and 5 clicks. Still only the rear liftgate moves. May I add I am still unable to consistently have the liftgate go up totally with the manual button. I've heard that some have this and some don't. I don't.

I purchased and programmed a Lightning fob for my Mustang some time ago. The frunk button on the fob works, but only if the car is unlocked. You might try unlocking the car before trying this...

Wait. You said you have that key too, referring to the Lightning Fob mentioned above? If so then that Fob has a dedicated button for the frunk.

Correct I actually have three keys The two that came with the car without the front trunk button and a lightning key I bought off eBay. I wasn't using the lightning key here, that's on my main set of keys, I ran out of the house with the spare set when this happened, and that has no dedicated button for the front trunk.

So I am an idiot My key fobs got swapped and my spare was actually my main key fob with the front button from the lightning. The front button replaces the rear button and the rear is added below. I'm so used to pressing that button thinking it's rear that when the front popped I thought it was a new feature. Sorry for my confusion I am an idiot, carry on.
