Used < $25k = $4k tax credit. I’m am. Cheap/Frugal. A $25k used MME would be a good option. I guess looking at the black fender trim would be better than a Bolt or Tesla, but the bolt would end up in one of my spawns hands when I get the Next Gen… something.

Well, Crap!

I said goodbye to My 1st Edition the other day. A high school kid did an illegal U-turn in front of me. LeeLou is dead! I just found out she's "totaled." Valued at $45k.

I drove home 2 miles after the incident and (other than the red hood in the way of seeing the road) I couldn't tell I had been in an accident. It drove perfectly.

My Replacement Choices Are Not Good: I don't see that Ford has made significant progress toward fixing the GT issues list in plenty on this site, and the Ralley Edition is too far away to wait. I need a car now. Five drivers and two cars, is not going to work.

I will probably just get a used Bolt while I figure it out.... unless I get a better idea/option.

I have had several Volvo XC40 / C40 recharge as rental cars the MME tech is better but the Volvo drives really nice.

Also on the GT issues my 2021 GTPE has been trouble free. My old Premium AWD EX had every problem (felt like)

Sorry to see this! Can I ask how fast you and the other driver were going? Did the airbags deploy? I'm amazed to hear that you drove it home without any issues.

The important thing is no one was hurt.

What GT issues? I have a 2022 GTPE and its been perfect.

I’m happy you are OK and have had worse personally on a trail run. Sorry that this happened at all. ??

The main GT issue from my point of view is the 5 second limit, but many people don’t have any issue at all with it. 5 seconds gets you past 70 from a standstill. I mostly drive my GT-PE like it has an eggshell on the go pedal that I don’t want to break but I have been frustrated by the 5 second limit. I’m an oddball though. You may or may not care about this issue. ?‍♂?

The other issue is present in every MME trim, the HVBJB robustness issue. Late 2022 and 2023 cars have the newer unit (and earlier cars that have failed theirs also have the new part). This new part seems to have a much lower failure rate. While it’s still an issue, I do not think it’s worth being alarmed over. You may or may not have failed this part in your former MME and if you drive a new one the same way you will likely have the same chance of failure you had in your old MME. I wouldn’t let this dissuade you from another MME. ??

Alternatively, if you want to try out another car, there are lots out there. Everyone has their own personal tastes, so you might find something you like more. ??

Just a data point. For me, the Tesla inventory page for M3s starts at $36,600! Minus the $500 referral and the $7,500 tax credit... wow.
For those who qualify, that car for $29k (excluding tax, title, etc) is an insane deal. There's nothing that even comes close IMO.

And in some states, Like California, there are state rebates that bring the total even lower. I have seen M3s that net out under $30K in some states after you factor in the discounts and all the federal and state incentives.

I would consider getting a used Mach E as a placeholder until the Rally edition arrives (since you mentioned that one). I doubt you'll find one that meets the $25K fed tax credit threshold (unless the car was really beat up), but you could likely easily get one for the $45K you're getting from insurance.

Lots of choices. I saw two EV6 GTs for $49K used with sub 2K miles. My Ioniq 5 Limited that I sold back to my dealer was finally sold for under $45K. That’s basically $15K under new MSRP for a car with less than 5K miles. Used Rivians are now under MSRP.

I loved my BMW i4. If you can live with a compromised space it would be my first choice.

Used Polestars are cheap too. They are fun sedan/hatchbacks. Carmakers need to copy their one pedal tuning and handling.

He already said that it’s totalled and valued at $45k.
I would never take the insurance companies first offer. Check out the appeal rules for your state. Years ago my wife was in a bad accident (T-boned by a Dodge 3500 who ran a red light). Insurance company offered us $3500 for our totaled car, we appealed and ended up settling for $10500. Turns out in Washington state when you appeal you include 3 dealers ads for your model car within 50 miles of your home and if the insurance company can't come up with a cheaper ad, they pay you based on the ads you provided plus or minus your cars options.

I'm not a mechanic but I wonder if a non EV would've been totaled with that damage. I'm also hoping the cost of repairing these things goes way down after the market gets more flooded with them.

Agree with @Jimrpa I've driven lots of nice cars. Audi's, BMW's and an Aston. This Mach-E still is one of the best as daily driver IMHO. Hope you find one readily available. Good luck, dude!
