Got strange text message showing map and arrival time

Anyone know what caused this?

Wife and I went somewhere in mach-e and on the way home she
got a text message from me (I was driving) .
The text message showed arrival time text with a yellow box that said edit.
When she pressed edit it showed a map of where we were.
When we got home I looked at my phone and of course I didn't send it.
When I pressed edit on her text message it disappeared rather than showing the map.

So is this a ford pass/sync/google feature I don't know about?

Were you using CarPlay with an iPhone? If you’re navigating with Apple Maps, you can share your ETA with someone, either via Maps directly or in a text message. (Not sure if Android Auto has similar functionality but it wouldn’t surprise me.)

You say Google, are you using an Android phone or an iPhone? I ask because Apple has a new feature letting you send texts like that.

we both have iphones and carplay might have been connected from my phone but we weren't using it. We were listening to sirusXM.

That kind of sounds like what we saw. Maybe something we said triggered siri to make that happen?

Possible, it seems like Siri likes to respond when you’re not talking to it, and ignore you when you are.

Looked at my phone and sharing eta was turned on.

Stop sharing your ETA

1. Go to Settings
   
   > Maps.
2. Scroll down, then turn off Share ETA.
