You can try applying a winter blend of windshield washer fluid around the seam of the cover

Early on with ours, pin-capture mechanism behind the hole in the plate broke, and the dealership had to replace it. But our problem was that the door wouldn't close. If expanding frozen liquids somehow bent your pin, no amount of any bodily fluid is going to fix it. As others have suggested, attempting repetitive light "percussive maintenance" with the side of your fist directly behind where the pin is located is your likely best bet until you can get it to the dealer. Since that panel is plastic, I'd be careful with a heat gun.

If you've got a heated underground parking garage nearby you could try that. Park for a few yours then give it a try.

I've had some luck putting a small application of sil glide to the mechanism when winter hits. Lubricates to -20 and keeps water/ice out.

This happens to many people.
For me, I poured warm (not boiling) water from a tea kettle near the corner seam and after once or twice, it opens.
Once it opens and dries, forum advice has been to spray a silicone lubricant in the latch hole to prevent additional freezing... So far that's worked for me.
