Running into a new issue today where our charger door won't open. Pushing on it in the usual place does nothing, it just stays closed. Last night I had charged at an Electrify America location nearby and after I had been home for a while, I noticed the door was open (no warnings about the door being open while driving). I closed it and everything seemed fine at the time. But this morning, it won't open. It was cold last night (around 25º F), but there was no snow/rain as far as I know.

Has anyone else had this issue? Obviously this is going to be a big problem if we can't get this sorted out since we can't charge the vehicle.

I have no idea why that thread didn't show up for me when I searched for "charger door" -- maybe I should've said "charge door" instead? :)

Anyway, update here -- we were able to get it to open by banging on it a little (just with my hand, no tools). When it opened, there was ice that fell out by the hinge. So clearly some water got into it last night and froze.

wd40 sprayed in hinge will help in future, and if you charge or park your car outside, you may want to pop off the driver's side 'beauty cover', and stuff an electric blanket down in back of the charge port.... power it directly from the 12v connection points nearby.

While we DEFINITELY appreciate your presence on these forums, @Ford Motor Company , sometimes opening a case individually isn't going to help. Problems like this need discussion, TSBs, or public advice on how to resolve or work around it. This is ice freezing the charge port door latch stuck. It's a vulnerable design. A dealer won't really be able to do anything about that.

I would bet that the information gleaned by FoMoCo from these individual occurrences is compiled and used as you suggest.
But it would not be appropriate to converse with with an individual owner about a specific problem in public.

Agreed, but unfortunately that's the M.O. of the Ford Motor Company account on this site -- they'll message you privately and then open a case with your dealership (which won't be able to do anything).
My point is that that approach is going to get nowhere with problems like these -- general problems that are shared by a wide swath of owners. They need widespread remediation, or workarounds.
