Anyone have issues with the charge door opening by itself? Drove my car yesterday on 5/20 and left it parked in the driveway. Came outside today at 4:00 ish and noticed the charge door was open. Checked the Nest cam it had popped open at 3:22 PM - and no one messed with it. Don't think its controllable by the app? In the video it pops at 22 seconds in. There's always a possibility that I did not shut it properly - but I have not charged in a few days so it's been shut for a while.

My guess is that it wasn't fully latched closed. and sitting in the sun as the plastic expanded a bit it broke loose and popped open.

See, you got the early access Power Charge Door feature that Mach E’s are getting to make up for our primitive manual front trunks ?

That's not a bug, it's a cicada. Maybe they can hit the car hard enough to pop the cover open.

Oops, never mind, they aren't coming as south as Atlanta. ;)

I've had mine pop open a few times, once as I was backing out of the garage. Popped open just in time to catch the doorway and dent the body when the cover hyperextended. I think the latch or spring is too stiff, causing it to pop open when it's not really forced closed. I'm hoping it loosens up over time.

Same thing just happened to me...I closed the lid after removing charge cable....then backing out the garage it popped open, hit the garage frame and popped the lid cover off. This is an obvious problem that Ford should stand behind repairing.

MME RR ER RWD ?
Country flag
Hi,

Just to add to this .....!

This has happened to me a few times (about 4 or so I think) in the 10 months I have had my MME RWD ER ...... and we don't have cicadas in my part of the UK ?

It never opens first time when I want to charge (usually take a couple or more pushes) and also takes a few times to close the charge door - very rarely works first time!

I'm not sure whether the mechanism is linked into the electronics etc., but it does seem to be - perhaps a more basic cover like we had for petrol/gas would be better and more reliable ??
