Hatch catch playing up, anybody else?

In past month the hatch/tailgate catch has been playing up.

Using fob, kicky-open or actual button a lot of the time the catch cycles, sometimes releasing on first catch others times not, never enables hatch to be pulled open but then instantly re-latches and pulls the hatch tight shut again.

I find that if I lock & leave car a few minutes and return the catch works normally.

Any similar experiences, peeps?

Any ideas of a solution?

Thought the issue might have been sticking mechanical parts of latch but spraying with WD40 with PTFE had no event.

Yes my 2021 has been doing this. If anyone knows a fix please post.

When I get a minute I’ll remove the inner gate trims and have a poke around, see if there’s anywhere to lubricate I can’t reach through the catch aperture, eradicate moisture or anything

The bumpers above the outer taillights are adjustable. That may give you some help...

Perhaps it's not the latch, but the motor? (Assuming power liftgate)

When you press the button to open, the motor attempts to open, but struggles and needs more power than expected -- it then reads it as an obstruction, and reverses to close the hatch?

Maybe try giving the motor a little assist by lifting with your hand and see if that has an effect?

Thanks, you might well be correct.

However helping lift with hand is impossible because the second catch don’t release if there is one on this kind of tailgate, otherwise the one single latch doesn’t fully release to enable you to lift the gate by hand.
