Charge port, charge port connectors, wiring to OBCC, connectors, OBCC it's self, connectors, wiring to battery, battery connectors, bus bars, actual battery chemistry and internal battery workings.
Plenty of failure points, and they all rest with the curve being limited to the weakest link.

Best part being 'we' and the aftermarket are walled off from messing with any of these pieces.

Yes, and they over paid due to their impatience.

Once again, if they paid cash and had piles of it I would not Judge.

If they borrowed money to purchase it, let's just say they made a very unwise decision. I also wanted it "NOW" but then again, I wanted a big house, new car etc. when I was 20 years old but I knew that would be ill advised of me to borrow on something that I should have waited for.

I would be willing to wager that more people than not borrowed money when spending over MSRP than those that waited that could have paid cash for their purchase. Unfortunately, that is why many people end upside down with their finances. ;)
That may be a "little" unfair. I borrowed to pay for the car (Paid MSRP) and also received the $7500 Fed Tax Credit; so really I paid ($49K) Prem, Ext Range & AWD. Normally, I pay straight Cash for my autos. However, with Ford's 0.9% Financing offer at the time; I took them up on it.

If my portfolio generally gets 7-10% annual returns, why not borrow at 0.9%. #Vanguard

***If I were to redo it all over again; I would probably do Ford's Options Lease just because of advancements that may be coming to EVs in the next couple of years.

btw. the depreciation is not just limited to Ford.

At least based on my guess of your car in Kelley Blue Book, assuming good condition, that's a bit low. Tesla probably doesn't think they can get much for it at car auction, since they don't sell used cars themselves. You probably can get better prices elsewhere, especially if you can manage a private sale.

Private sale using AutoTrader is how I sold my 2 ice cars in 2021 and early this year. Good safeguards on scams. Should get $5000 over wholesale. Price them at same price of dealers listings in your area.

Selling a car in 2021 is totally apples and oranges unfortunately

Please let me rephrase that. IF you have the money to purchase the car up front, then go for it (whether you pay cash or purchase a low % finance loan).

While you may be the exception to the rule, I have found that many people that borrow money to purchase a car also use the same rule of thumb if you will, to purchase their appliances, furniture etc. At the end of the month, they more times than not are paying interest on items that they could have waited for and it kills them with tiny cuts.

I own a Driving School and (this is a generalization btw), more times than not, the people that live in around $700k - upwards to 1.5 million dollar homes are those that ask for extended time to pay the balance owed than those that live in a lower priced home. The ultra nice homes ( 2 million or more ) usually pay on time as well.

My point is this. Those that CAN get a loan may be wiser to NOT get said loan but rather purchase a more affordable car. They get wrapped up into thinking their money can get them more down the road but if things go sideways (which it is cyclical and it will at some point), they get into financial trouble and their credit rating tanks i.e., things get repossessed and the wheels start to come off and they have little to no equity.

So to recap, if you have more money than you know what to do with I would say paying over MSRP is no big deal. Those that borrow money to pay higher than MSRP are not wise with their finances no matter how you put it. They are guaranteed to lose their ass. And when prices tank (like they are now) they are upside down and they have no recourse other than to keep their car and have limited options. ;)

And don't let me get started with those that borrow money to get an extended warranty. For starters, those "guarantees" are more times than not worthless but they are paying interest on those as well. Vicious cycles is the cause of many bankruptcies.

Well which is it then, the battery limits the speed or Ford decided to limit the speed to preserve longevity?? I would guess that Ford weighed a number of factors when setting the curve.
I think Ford def took the conservative route on things, as evidenced by charging speed and GT being throttled

Yes, and wire size is NOT one of the deciding factors.

Used car prices fell like an Acme anvil held by Wile E. Coyote awhile back. They were unrealistically high during the pandemic anyway.
What a time to be a cur buyer. 10k plus over list. Used values going up weekly.
Market had to reset but damn it fell a long way.

Every dealer I've spoke to tells me that they think the used values are still too high. Eh? 50% loss on a '21? Nay Nay I say.

And as usual I bought at the start of the tumble.

Let’s do some math shall we? 2022 premium AWD ER.

Msrp: $58.8k
Minus: $2k price protection, 1.1k x-plan, 1k ford options, 7.5k tax credit, 4k state rebate

Net cost: ~$43k (I know, some are pre- and post-sales tax).

I also got ~$8-10k more than I deserve on my trade in due to pandemic shenanigans.

I will not be complaining about this purchase anytime soon.
I came here to make this same post.
Bought my car in July 2022. At that time I got XPlan pricing, and Ford was offering $6825 in various incentives, plus add to that the $7500 federal tax credit and no state sales tax on EVs.

Whether or not your dealer gave you the appropriate credits, or you qualified for the Federal or various state money available, I think all of it factors into used car pricing now. Even with that, KBB estimates my trade in to be around $39-45k and resale at $43-49k; about the same or more than I paid for it.

I'm of the opinion that advances in battery technology will be the death of us. If they begin unleashing EVs in something like 2026 or 2027 with 600-plus miles of range: What's an EV that gets 226 going to be worth? And replacing the battery with the better one isn't exactly a cost-friendly option.

But I knew what I was getting into. My 2021 BMW i3 was a $53k car. A short time later, the KBB value was like $33k with 6,000 miles on it. Thankfully, I got an $11k military rebate on it and a small cut in the MSRP.
I just traded my 2016 Charger Hellcat in for a 2023 MME GTPE. Both have the same range of 260 miles. Some might call me crazy, as cool as the Hellcat was, it was unusable power. Yeah, maybe from 100-200mph you could out run a helicopter. But nah, I want usable power that ties into my solar and Powerwalls. I just ordered the Tesla Universal charger that will tie everything in quite nicely. Mach E is our in town driver, we still have two ICE vehicles for long distance.

Great for you. We have a 2021 GTPE and 2023 Model Y AWD long range and both are keepers. GTPE already promised to our 7 yr old grand daughter. Her mom my daughter is a true muscle head since went to cruises all over the east coast since she was 6 month old. When she graduated college we bought her the dream car she always wanted a new 2012 challenger srt 8 392 blue streak pearl with silver stripe. Perfect balance of power and ride and looks. You are right on the hellcat. Lots of power but unusable. Good luck on your new mme.

I would guess a Salvage Yard would pay the same if not more.

I had a 2010 Ford Focus back in the day and I sold that on the cheap as well. I couldn't get rid of it fast enough. I had many issues with it. ;)

I'd turn the thing into a fairly insane EV go-kart first. There's the motor, all the controllers, the 32kW battery. It's still been the most trouble free car I've had in a long time, aside from it's quirks.

I went and almost pulled the trigger on a GTPE this weekend, but it dind't have the 360 cam and appeared to not have BC? Was that even possible in 8/22? I didn't know until during the drive that a bunch of helpful stuff was actually missing. I've learned the 360 cam is a must. Looks like I dive deeper into the suspension of my Prem. as the magnaride in that one was very floaty unless in unbridle then the steering was brick. (The steering in mine might be going out, if gets really choppy near full lock, almost like it's hanging up on a tooth or 3)
