Headlight not working. Any idea where the headlight control module is located?

Hello all. My driver side headlight on the Mach-E stopped working. The dealer is telling me that it could be either the headlight control module or the headlight assembly, which are two separate parts. Without knowing which one is bad, they are suggesting to change the headlight headlight control module first, which is $900, and if it does not fix the issue, then change the headlight assembly, which is about $1750. The issue is if the issue is the headlight assembly, then they will be changing a perfectly good headlight control module, which will cost me $900. It is weird that they have no means to know what is broken without trial and error and changing parts at my cost.

Anyone had this issue? Does anyone know where the headlight control module is located? I can try to order a used one and change it myself to see where the issue is.

Sorry I can't help you with your question.

But just wanted to pop in and say that yeah, that's BS. A dealership should not be blindly part swapping at a customer's expense. For a $5 part, sure. $900, no way.

Go to a different dealer that can diagnose problems. HCM is behind the glove box IIRC. If one headlight works it’s probably not the HCM.

I agree. The service manager was no help. He was blaming Ford saying that is what Ford tells them to do. Ford does not seem to know how to design serviceable cars anymore. You know you have to take the tires and the front bumper to replace the headlight. :(

Called few Indy shops and no one wants to touch these cars. Made an appointment with another dealer. Let's see what they say. If HCM is easy to get to, I am thinking about buying a used one and try it out. They are not very expensive on eBay. Headlight assembly is more expensive to just try out. Do you know how to reach behind the glove box? Do I have to take out the front dashboard or the glove box. Thanks.
