Hi everyone, not sure if anyone will be able to help here, but I was wondering if anyone with dealer connections could help me find my VIN number from my Mach E order?

I placed my vehicle order through my company's car provider back in May, but they've been completely useless at keeping me up-to-date. I've watched with envy as you guys track your build dates, shipping details etc. while I can only watch my vague delivery dates slip on and on and on!..

I (obviously) know the spec of my car and roughly when the order was put through. I also know which dealership supplies the Ford orders for our fleet company. Is there any chance someone could work out my VIN number, so I can enjoy refreshing whereismymme every day?!

Your hopefully!

Hiya

That’s a tough one. Because you ordered through a third party they will have all the details. Normally we can jerryrig a VIN by using the web portal, or by making friends with the salesman at the dealership the order was placed through.

The only thing you could do is ring the company car provider and ask them for the VIN, or try the dealership they use.

Unfortunately there isn’t any way to work out the entire 17 digit string without the last 6 characters.

Hope that helps - sorry I couldn’t give you more. If you do manage to get the last 6 characters I can help you complete the remainder.

Almost all cars show up on the dealer’s website. You can try checking their site and finding the car and they usually list the VIN and even have the window sticker sometimes.
Or just call the dealer and speak to any salesman and explain what you’re after. Most won’t bother enough to qualify that you should get that info and will try and find it.

Unfortunately this is in the United Kingdom, and the sales method is a bit different here. We don’t have publicly listed VIN numbers on dealership stock, and we don’t have window stickers either. We also have really strict data protection laws that can get in the way of casual requests on orders.

Ah, okay. I’m on mobile and was filtering by latest posts, didn’t notice! Best of luck to the OP!

Thanks for the help so far, much appreciated!

I’ve asked the fleet company twice for the info, but they’ve told me both times that the dealer doesn’t know the VIN (even though we know that’s BS), so I’m banging my head against a brick wall there.

I could try calling the dealers directly and see if I get lucky…

Other things I wondered were whether the UK VIN numbers were sequential, and thus guessable with enough tries, or whether there was any documentation on cars that have arrived in Antwerp, as I suspect mine may be around that point now.

It’s a silver AWD SR, so based on peoples posts on here potentially a less common combo and easier to narrow down!

The numbers are all over the place, and there's a check digit in the middle that's based on the entire sequence, so guessing would be almost impossible.

If it's an AWD SR model your VIN will be WF0TR3SS*NMA***** where the *'s are the unknown digits.

I'd say it's time to make nice with the dealer ? ? ?

Thanks - I’ll give them a bell and see if they’re feeling charitable!

Got it, thanks for the help guys! @Wonky_Donkey thanks for the VIN pattern - crucial as they only gave me a partial number.

If anyone else is interested, the pattern is actually MMA, rather than NMA, though.

Apologies - I had forgotten that I updated my VIN tool for the 2022 builds, and forgot yours was a 2021 model.

Just for reference - digit 10 is the model year where M=2021 and N=2022

I'm guessing they only gave you the last bit - hopefully you got the right check digit at position 9 :)
