So in November or so I made a reservation for a GT. I really like the looks of the GT way more than the Premium. Its mostly the black grill area that I think makes it look so much better. But yesterday I went and drove a Premium AWD Extended range, and it was amazing. I told the salesman I have a GT reservation but wanted to see it in person. I mentioned I was worried about what options are going to be available on the GT and he said his dealer has one more allocation that they planned on ordering this week and could order it how I wanted, and figured it could be in within 8-12 weeks. I didn't expect that and now I'm torn between getting it sooner, and waiting who knows how long for a car that I don't even know what options will be available.

The things I want in this car are:
Hands free highway driving
Glass Roof
360 camera
And I really want grabber blue and styling of the GT

I think I could live without grabber blue. But every time I look at a pic of the GT I have a hard time giving it up.
If I could get the GT with the tech package like the select has I would be set. But the unknown of what options the GT will have makes me nervous. I don't want to hold out for a GT, it not have the options available, and then be stuck waiting longer.

Sounds like the GT is really what you want, so I would just wait for it at this point. I think your dealer’s 8-12 week lead time for a Premium ordered now may be a little optimistic. Mine’s already built and Ford’s ETA is almost 8 weeks from now. There are orders from October that aren’t even scheduled yet.

Well that's what I thought as well. I thought about just letting them order the premium and keeping the GT reservation until they announce GT options. That dealer is ordering the car this week for stock with our without my input on it, So I don't think they would care too much If I ended up not buying it.

I think i'm more worried about the GT not having options I want, and THEN switching to a premium and having to wait until sometime in 2022 to get it.

if you can get them to refund the deposit, might want to order a premium with colors and options you want. You can take it or leave it while you decide on GT.

I Didn't ask, but they may not even charge a deposit, since technically its just a dealer stock order and won't actually be tied to my name. They still have 1 dealer stock allocation available, and I don't know how that works. I definitely thought about that since really the only option I'd get to choose is what color I wanted. The guy basically just made it sound like they would order it how I wanted and I'd have first access to buy it when it comes in.

On the Ford website there is a compare model specs section. 360-Degree Camera and Ford Co-Pilot360 Active 2.0 Prep Package is not standard on the GT but it is an option that can be added. Same with the panoramic glass roof, it is not standard, but an option you can add. It specifically says O for optional and - for not available and they have O under the GT listing.

Grabber blue is only available on the GT and First Editions.

So it seems like the GT will give you all the options you want and the styling. You would just have to wait longer than for the Premium.

Thank you for this! I hadn't seen this before, and there have been several threads about the possibility of the GT not having some of that stuff even as options. That makes me feel better about it, especially since it was updated with current info on the specs that they released in December on the GT.

I'm kind of hoping it will cost less than 5k for all the tech options and glass roof.

Thanks everyone for the input!

Looks like I'll be picking up a Grabber Blue First Edition Saturday morning! A dealer a few hours away had a FE Grabber blue listed on ebay 5k over MSRP. Made them an offer much lower than that and they accepted! I really didn't expect them to accept it but they did!
