Hit a Deer

Hit a deer at the right front of the car, knocking out the "toggle" port. What is this called? And I have small crack, likely will have to replace the whole panel. Argh.

Glad you are safe. I’ve see what a deer or elk can do to a car. I saw a Toyota Sienna totaled in Montana

Ouch. Yes, you're looking at a few new panels there: the upper bumper piece that goes all the way across, the frunk access port, and the nose piece.

Oh dear. Glad you are OK.

I hit a deer a few years back - poor thing's head ripped the side mirror clean off, then the body spun around and left a massive butt-sized dent in the rear quarter panel.

if it is me. i would buy that cover. Plug it on and call it a day. not worth it to start a claim for that little damage.

The 12v port cover can probably be ordered as a replacement part for a couple dollars at your local dealership.

if you want to try a repair of the crack rather than replacing the whole front piece .... find a roofer that installs heat-welded TPO, grind the crack to an open V with a dremel, and have them run a bead of ABS filler with air 'welder'..... then sand/prime/paint.

If you can't find a heat welder, dremel out the crack a bit, then drill very small (1/16" or 1/8") holes along the crack, and fill the crack with JB weld or some other sandable/paintable epoxy... pushing the epoxy into the holes to lock the filler on the front-side.

it will look 'fine from 5 feet', and cost maybe $200

That's my desired route, the dealer couldn't identify the piece, so thanks for that! I'm hoping it will "pop" into place and the "holders" didn't break too.

Yikes! Sounds like that was pricey! Glad you're okay!
