It usually is not an issue for me but the one time it was, I let the desk clerk know, if someone else needs the charger, call my cell and I’ll come move it. My car SOC was low enough that it would continue to charge all night, I just didn’t need that much for where I was headed. I could have left a note on the car, but I didn’t really want my phone number posted for everyone.
Google Voice number forwarded to my actual phone number. I'm not crazy. :)

Are you actually looking for hotels with charging?
<SNIP>
On most of the trips I have taken there are zero hotels with charging, but yes I always check PlugShare and ChargeHub for L2/L3 where I am going to be. There are just no chargers out where the human and I do our thing. ??

The free hotel chargers are great - when you can get one. I don’t know where the industry is going to go, to more chargers or to elimination of free charging. To me, the current problem is the low number of chargers at each location. Two spots usually go quickly and sometimes only one works. I’d like to see four or more, even if they involve some payment. As it is right now, I just don’t count on them. It’s a bonus if I get one, but I always have plan B or plan A1.

It was a Tesla driver, so I knew that if I thanked him, it would be the only time he was thanked in 2023. He looked very surprised, adjusted his pocket protector, coughed, pushed his thick, coke bottle glasses back on his nose, and got in and moved it.
Hey now, I resemble.. I mean resent that. I'm a current Tesla driver. Then again, I'm also a soon to be former Tesla driver, whenever my MME comes in so there's that.

That will be great! I bet you can't wait. I have never checked out the Tesla forums, I doubt they are as fun as the Mach-E ones. I imagine they talk about different size jars of Grey Poupon and how to avoid muggles on the road.

I will say the Tesla forum (teslamotorsclub.com) I belong to has some great people. And some not so great people. What it does have that I'm looking forward to seeing more here is A LOT of activity, but that's because there are so many Teslas on the road & a lot more people that talk about them.

My buddy is a staunch Tesla owner. He is the reason I have a MME now (not by his choice though). He did everything he could to get me into a Model Y (which to me looks like an elongated VW Beetle) While I love the tech on the Tesla, and especially the charging network, my interest stops there. I am the complete opposite of a minimalist, which is what you would have to be to really love the design I believe, which I don't. I give a lot of props to Tesla for making BEVs mainstream though, and for pushing the envelope. If Elon succeeds in creating new battery technology, it will be game changing for all of us. So no hate on the Tesla peeps.

Exactly where I was in 2020 when shopping for an EV. Nothing inspired me about the looks or the feel of the Tesla, but the charging network made me feel comfortable enough that an EV could be my everyday vehicle. Even on long road trips.

I've just never FELT anything toward my Model Y, and I've been one of those guys who always looked out at his car and just smiled. My wife put it best recently when she said "this is the first car you've ever had that I've seen dirty for weeks at a time".

To those that know, that is a strong statement.

I can look at my Google photos of each of my vehicles and based on the number of different images, tell which ones I liked most. My Lincoln MKZ, Mazda CX-5, and now MME, have the most pics. I have two vehicles where I don't have even one picture, not one! Cracks me up.

You’re not crazy, and I’m not that smart. ?‍♂
Google voice you say? I thought that was when you yelled at google to tell Siri and Alexa to shut up.

I have been using Google Voice for years. You can set up a free phone number and forward it to any number you want. It is set up on my phone and I can call out using my Google Voice number or my mobile number.

I use my Google Voice number for my work number. I can make calls using the browser on my computer, listen to voice mails there (and on my phone, of course) and send text messages. It's amazing that it is still free.

I've been using it for almost a decade. It's so useful that I'm surprised it hasn't been killed yet.

I stay plugged in charging all night until it's time to go.

Every time I've charged at a hotel I arrived with a pretty low SOC. My car didn't finish charging until about an hour before we were leaving. Which was just enough time to run the departure time routine on shore power before we left.
Very true. Also, I have my car programmed to precondition, so even if I complete charging before 7, the car will precondition at 8 so it needs to still be on the charger.
