Another question may be, are non-Model E dealers with an EV mechanic permitted to Service EVs and be reimbursed by Ford on warranty work? Seems likely the answer is YES.

They can choose to provide Service to EVs or not, and to customers who bought an EV from them or all or not. And this choice may change over time.
They can still service my car. But not sure about a car I would purchase from a dealer 300 miles away. No worries at this time and who knows what the deal will be in 2026.

Yes, for safety recalls only, as long as they still have a technician with current EV certification.

Don't know how factual it is, but I asked my service advisor how they were doing on Techs. Said that the course was very hard and had a 70% fail rate. No wonder there is a shortage.

The list is terrible the dealship I leased from is on there, 2'- J1772 chargers, anything there takes a week. Same dealership that said we are not calling Ford don't care whatvEV team says...would be nice if Ford World HQ had chargers in their parking lots...heck call Tesla for install and do half with magic docks. Ford just can't get their stuff together 4:yrs in and OTA still a mystery/struggle...most dealerships lock up their chargers after 5 pm...Hyundai dealerships ships use charge point and are usually available 24x7

I took my MME to Krieger Ford in Columbus, OH. They informed me that they could not work on EVs. They used to, so I'm pretty sure they still have EV qualified mechanics.

I just got an email from FORD that HVBJB parts are in. A link provided to search for dealers did not include "Model E" but did include EV Certified.

Model E dealers need to install dcfc chargers? By 2025? A dealer in Wausau. WI. fits this guide but is lacking dcfc charging stall via plugshare.
I have the same issue with Watertown Ford in Watertown, SD. Shows up in this, but still no DC fast charger, nor one showing pending in PlugShare.

Most of the EV dealers haven’t been able to get their DC chargers installed yet. Hopefully in the next few months. But it’s like pulling teeth…

In some areas of the country you have to ask your utility company for a ok to install any high inrush items. Like a 10 hp motor. They will then tell you if they can support it and what you have to do. Like a soft starter. But with DC fast chargers they often require a battery surge system. They have to upgrade the power grid. Sometimes even the substation isn't big enough. In which case it may be 3 to 5 years.
The northern edge of NY has abundant supply, (Hydro) But if you go into the Adirondacks 50 miles there is a shortage and no infrastructure.

Is this so called Model 3 certified dealership an opt in or opt out arrangement? I wonder if the franchisees are not motivated to sell EV can decline this certifications, afterall there is no margin with Ford EVs. Why bother with the expense of EV-fying a dealership?
Kinda reminds me of a number of GM dealerships preferring to not sell EV than to upgrade their premise.

Long term wise, I feel it is not good for the consumer from consistency stand point.

Reports are saying Ford is going back to all dealers being able to sell EVs. That makes a lot of sense to me. But I don't know anything about running a car company.

Is this a good sign? My dealer happens to be listed (okay for me), but there are zero other EV dealers in a 500 mile radius. Previously pretty much every dealer had Ford EVs. I'm not sure what to think of this.
I hadn't checked this search tool since this thread first started. A quick check now shows 6 dealers within 20 miles selling 2024 Mach-Es. Feeling better now.

It makes sense, except I really want an easy way to find dealerships that not only sell EVs, but are competent to service them in a timely manner. If any dealership can sell the cars without requiring they have trained ev technicians, that's going to be really frustrating.
