I've tried your suggestion a couple of times now. For some reason, when I come back to the car several hours later I find that it's powered down, even though I turned off the Vehicle Power Down Timer. When I check the timer I find that it's been turned back on.

Be sure you are not plugged into a charger while doing this. You car should be started (press brake) & ready to drive when you leave it on. The switch resets on every start so set it and leave the vehicle.
