His point, which is a valid one, is that Ford should know by now how to properly adhere a windshield (and a roof). Finding out that you did a poor job of it in the factory, by a third party technician reporting it when doing a cracked windshield replacement, is not good.

When you read through the very detailed instructions for the glass company, and see the amount of prep they had to do (including removing paint from surfaces), you realize how poorly the initial job was done.
An assembly flaw, while serious, is different than a design flaw. The HVBJB issue if in fact the system was poorly designed prior to manufacturing.

Different yes, but both are related to poor quality. Poor quality parts versus poor quality manufacturing.

So……. I’ll start with saying I love my car.

But based on the weekly bugs and first year build quirks I have, I honestly don’t believe it when you say:

“ We have not had one single problem related to it being a newly designed EV.”

Really? No problems? You’ve never had any of the things that have happened to me? Short list off the top of my head:

1. headlight switch bug- turns on instead of auto
2. Screen delay/lag. Touch screen doesn’t respond for about a minute after you start the car.
3. Profile switches to guest randomly instead of your profile
4. Memory seats stay in “easy exit” instead of going to position
5. Volume control fault- car wouldn’t respond to volume knob and had this msg appear
6. SiriusXM bug. Screen randomly doesn’t display properly
7. Parking sensor bug- display gets stuck in the parking sensor screen
8. PAAK doesn’t work sometimes
9. Door lock button outside of door takes 3-4x to respond
10. Charger port door doesn’t open or close on first try
11. CarPlay won’t connect randomly
12. Charge fault
13. Recall- thought this affected everyone
14. OTA update failure
15. Speed sign recognition being wrong
16. Bluecruise hunting for the center of the lane.

So really? Not a single problem? Hard to believe since these things seem widespread. But you must be lucky or don’t consider those to be problems.

I think all of these things are because it’s a first year car.
I don't use PAAK so don't know if that is an issue or not. We got two fobs with our delivery....conned dealership out of one. As to the rest...don't have those. The glass recall is not a problem and I will not have those done unless I actually have a problem since ours is aligned perfectly and no issues with either. Well, sometimes have to push charge port door a couple of times to get it to close.

As a former owner of a Maserati Quatroporte, I can say that most of the "issues" reported on this forum are less real issues and more like nuisances. Try having your brand new $100+ vehicle in the shop for 6 months because the factory heads warped at 350 miles and could not attain an oil or vacuum seal and you had to wait for parts from the Ferrari factory. With no loaner. And no offer to buy it back. And then taking a beating on the price when the car was finally repaired and you couldn't sell it fast enough to avoid more issues. :) That was a problem.

Definitely more bugs and nuisances than anything (unless you get the “stop safely now”)

Even though I have a long list of software glitches, I haven’t gone to the dealer yet because there doesn’t seem to be a fix for any of them yet.

My advice is to have your dealer check your VIN and see if there are updates or recalls you are subject to, then take the car in and get them done.

If you have the profile glitch - mine was fixed when all the modules were updated.

I had the profile glitch for a couple months. Then with no updates (GTPE) it went away on its own.

All the glitches seem totally random.

I had the profile glitch occur a couple of days ago, and I have all the latest updates. Yes it is random, as is the GPS getting lost. I went for 3 months without that occurring, then it happened again.

I haven't sold my old car. It was too old and too good to sell (19 yo, very clean and only 70k mileage). So I left it as a reserve car.
Now I need to drive it once a few months. It is soooo hard to leave my Mustang behind and drive that old car instead.... even for a day

I get the fact that as on any car forum, people who are frustrated are more likely to post complaints and problems. This is either to vent or actually seek help or resolution. I don't understand why there is such a lack of people who are actually singing the praises of their new vehicle. We have been the owners of our Platinum ER x4 for 14 months now. We have not had one single problem related to it being a newly designed EV. The only issue we have had (and still do) is a rattle in left rear door and that is just because I have not had the time to take it in to be corrected. Are we merely lucky, or is the majority of the Mach E's produced similar to ours. I have owned at least thirty brand new vehicles in my lifetime and the Mach E has been the best of any of them. Are we in the majority or the minority here I wonder???
So far so good for me, I've had mine for 13 months. Little things to get used to and work around, PAAK being one of them, collision assist scaring the crap out of me when, IMO, I was not in danger, back doors don't always open. I haven't done the windshield/roof recalls because my local dealer won't do it (they can't find anyone local and won't drive it to the next closest dealer) and the next closest dealer wants me to rent a car for a week (at Ford's expense but my gas expense). I'll wait until the inevitable chip in the windshield.

One of the service advisors at our local Ford dealer actually advised me NOT to get the Glass Recalls done at this time!! I am getting ready to call yet another Ford dealer that I know has done at least one and Maybe have them do it or just wait until I get a crack in the windshield??

Best. Car. Ever. Love it. My only complaints were purchase process issues.

My experience has been nothing but stellar. I happened to talk to a dealer who had an available car, so after a few hours of thought and research I bought my MME at MSRP. Its my 3rd EV so I knew what I was getting into. This car is better/nicer in EVERY aspect over my previous Leaf and Bolt. I have road tripped it the last few weekends and it is only getting better. Blue cruise in stop/go highway traffic is amazing. The attention the car gets, the fun it is to drive. And long weekends away spending peanuts on fuel is the icing on the cake.

As of June 5th I've had my 2021 MME Premium ER AWD for 1 year. No problems at all.
