Going back and forth between the Mach-E and a Lightning on a regular basis now, one gets a sense for how the Mach-E system can perform, and based on what we've been told, will perform. The Lightning's just more responsive, overall, on the Sync 4a screen. (I can't speak to the Sync 4 layout on the lower trims but videos suggest it's performant as well.) There's also just more "there" there, like more camera options, although some of that is because there are just more cameras to offer (like a bed camera).

The IPC is a different story. The Mach-E has a lower resolution display (not just less height, but lower density), so getting the Lightning layout, even in a "squashed" form, isn't really possible, at least not in the same way.

Both are less customizable than I'd like - the MFT-era Fusion Energi left and right hand sides were much more flexible. The Lightning center is more like the Sync 3 center view on say an Escape or C-Max from that viewpoint. (Someone mentioned this analogy in an earlier post.) The left-hand side shows a lot more of the "EV", the kind of stuff that people have been asking for on the Mach-E, but it's not perfect, either - for example, there's no numeric battery percentage, just a bar, unless you're in BlueCruise hands-free, at which point a giant "hands free" takes up the left hand-side with a little bit of text underneath which includes the battery percentage.

For example, a lot of the time, I'd like an option to see full media information - not just the title in the bottom, but the current artist and station name, full time, somewhere, and that's not possible on the Lightning IPC right now. Sure, the title is more than I get on the Mach-E right now, but it's still not enough, for me.

A lot of this is personal preference, of course, and different people will want different things.

It would be nice if there was an aftermarket option to replace the large screen with a smaller one. There's a lot of real estate on the large screen that's underutilized on account of the 2ndary display above the steering.

My 2013 Rav4 EV Had a much better control setup. HVAC and radio were buttons on the console and steering wheel. Three LCD screens were blended into the car. One was sort of configurable. Easy to use. No bugs. Charged when told to. Had a Prius shifter which was more intuitve than the knob. Showed range immediately when you opened the driver door. Plus, it didn't turn the garage into a sauna when charging...

I think Ford needs to remove the radio buttons, and make everything slider toggles for on/off true/false. Can't stand that the current UI mixes them up.
I may have suggested this before, but how about toggles for things that have three values - I’m thinking things like the Auto switch on climate control. Rather than cycle through settings, just have a toggle with a middle detent. I think it would be more intuitive and easier to use. Not sure you’d want to go more than 3 though - the seat heaters have 5 (off, low, medium, high, auto).

Or they could do what they did on the F150 and make the larger screen available only with higher trim levels.
