The full-page map in CarPlay isn't what they want. They want a portrait mode map with the other open Carplay apps on the right side, like what was possible in CarPlay before the changes. That is no longer possible and is an Apple issue in any event.

It also isn’t confirmed they will. Logically, they should, but who knows with Ford.

I do agree that there is wasted space in the vertical format. However the issue is very much on the Apple side. What you're seeing is portrait vs large screen. CarPlay detects the size and changes based on the projected resolution.

Apple isn't changing much in CarPlay right now since the focus is on CarPlay gen 2 development. So you'll have to wait until then to see if we get any changes.
