Hi all, this is my first post. I am about to buy my 2nd Mach-e (premium x range) and the one at the dealership is brand new, just built and there is something new... and I am wondering if anyone has heard rumblings of Ford changing the layout of the instrument cluster or if it is a glitch. It is software version 23151.

As you can see, the speedometer in this vehicle is permanently on the right, the way it would have been if you had activated the Lane Centering. There is a way for me to turn lane centering on and off, but the little car stays there and the speedometer is on the right. No settings or anything to change it to the middle now. I have asked the dealership and they think this is just how the new software is.

So, is it a glitch or is this rolling out? Thank you all for the input!

This is the new look. I’ve had mine for 3 years and this changed a while back. A lot of people will tell you it’s a setting but changing those settings won’t do anything. I’ve done everything imaginable but the damn car stays out on the display.

Yes that is it. Does anyone know what secret combination of settings unlocks this view??
The combo:
- Have a '21,' 22, or '24 (not a '23 or '24)
- Don't have 6.8.0 installed
- Drive mode Unbrindled
- Turn off lane keep assist (the button on the steering wheel)
- Don't have cruise control on
- Might also need to turn off the "follow distance indicator" blob in settings

(edited to fix)

The 2024 has newer IPC software that doesn’t have this issue.

It allows you to have the speedometer centered.
Oh, awesome, I had no idea. I guess that means it's definitely a bug caused by 6.8.0. That gives me some hope that they will eventually fix it. I thought maybe it was intentional.

I guess there’s an advantage to being stuck on 5.1.1. If I turn off lane centering, I get the speedometer in the center with all the fancy lines.

HOW did you finally resolve this issue ? I’m having the exact same problem. It started right after I used the blue cruise and it won’t revert to normal.

Hey,

There is no fix. They know about the problem, apparently they are working on a fix. It is the new normal for now... I suggest contacting them and seeing if there is any progress...

It's only been a year and like 10 other updates. Give them time. They're working diligently on playing with audio changes no one likes and making updates easier to update. These things take time. Hopefully you'll get the update that fixes this before you sell the vehicle.

Enjoy your new instrument cluster, but never forget how much nicer it used to be.

I just read through this thread again after noting that my new ā€˜24 premium Mach e doesn’t have the glitch, and hoping that Ford would have fixed it by now. Going by what one poster mentioned, that Ford said it doesn’t interfere with operating the car and is therefore normal, I’m assuming that Ford is not in fact planning to fix this bug, which is a real bummer…

Given that it looks like there’s just a bit getting set when it shouldn’t be, has anyone been able to dig into the firmware/bit registers to figure out where they messed up? Wouldn’t mind the ability to decompile my firmware just now…

Or I suppose I can just wait until the leases all start to come up on the affected models, since there’d probably be a bunch of money left on the table when Ford sells them on if they have the glitch and the other model years don’t.
