Since I'm getting a First Edition, there aren't many questions I'm having to mull over. However, I am wondering about the $240 Interior Protection Package (17P). It only describes this as Cargo Area Protector and Floor Liners, front and rear.

Are these just regular carpet mats or weather proof protection like Weather Tech?

I realize almost all of us (except @hybrid2bev and a couple of others) may lack a definitive source for the answer. However, many of you may have bought Fords recently and can attest to what came on other Fords, especially SUVs.

My experience has always been that "Interior Protection" from the manufacturer refers to all-weather/rubber mats.

If you see it from the dealership, it's snake-oil for "we rubbed some stuff on your interior....".

The mats I got were not as nice and custom molded like Weather Tech. They were more like generic thick rubber mats you can get at Walmart for half the price.

I'm just going to move my existing rubber mats over from my old C-Max to the MME.

When I got the rubber mats from Ford with my 2016 Escape, I wore a hole in the driver's side within a year. I replaced them with Weathertech mats and I still have those in good shape 4 years later. Even if it will be winter, I will wait until I can get Weathertech or Aries mats.

Thanks for the input folks. Weathertech mats and cargo liner for my Leaf would be $270, only $30 more than the Ford price and much sturdier. From one report back, the Aries may be a better option. I'll look into those two and pass on the thin Ford ones. Hopefully Aries and WeatherTech will get theirs out fast.

BTW, I just emailed WeatherTech and Aries to see when they think they will have floor and cargo protectors for the Mach E. I'll let y'all know what I learn.

I like the look of the Aries mats so I'm interested, but ultimately I enjoy stock branded stuff (so I'm imagining a pony/etc on the Ford ones), so I'll still buy them.

As the Edge is close in size they will likely be pretty close to the $179 for the floor mats and $119 for the cargo with WeatherTech.. Maybe...

Yeah, when I went to order this morning I added the package. I couldn’t resist those mats with the pony on them. After my mistake of not ordering a FE, I said what the hell.

There was an option to add the mats when ordering? I guess I didn’t see that. Oh well.

I also could not find the option and looked all over the page to add them....

I'm just going to let my dealer know I want them and maybe they can do something.

You had to go into the page where you would change your color or interior. If you were not modifying your order you would not see it. If I was not changing my interior from white to black I would have missed it.

Oh well, I'll just have to buy aftermarket or stock mats seperately.

As stated in one of the earlier emails, First Edition orders cannot be changed on the online page. There was no option on my order conversion page to modify order, so I couldn't even choose the mats if I had wanted and didn't even have the option to look at them. I'm sure the dealer will be able to order them as parts if I decide to go with them. I think I'd rather have highly-protective mats rather than a few more pony logos.

Yes, it's way, way down at the bottom of the page.
