We can be both cynical AND accurate by stating that Apple makes very little money from advertising, so they’re not trying to monetize anything into advertising revenue. Not really. They make their money from hardware, software, and services.

The cynical part is that Apple uses privacy (that you technically do get with Apple products) disingenuously to sell more hardware software and services. They act like they’re virtuous for not tracking users. But it’s because they don’t have to depend on advertising.

Just wanted to share some photos of how the CarPlay changes look on the Mach-E with iOS 26.

Apology in advance if this is a duh. Is there a reason I can scroll ahead on my ipone to see each step during an active navigation using google maps, but there seems to be no way to scroll ahead on the MME display during an active navigation using google maps via Carplay?

We’re not going to agree on this matter. It’s alright though as it’s fairly irrelevant to the topic at hand and Apple is not going to change its ways absent a wholesale market shift that forces them to do so. I have specific reasons for my opinion of Apple, but they’re all ancient history at this point. Not that that has ever stopped me before, but I digress — as usual.

In any event, it’ll be “interesting” to see how the next versions of CarPlay shake out both on current gen Mach-e’s and next gen Mach-e’s running the Android Automotive OS.

Carplay has done this for a while. I don't know when it started, but I noticed it did this for me a few months ago with iOS 18.x

Don't know if I missed it, been following, but looks like the tiled screen has a bigger map section now and the bottom tiles have been reduced?
