I upgraded to the first beta, which I usually don't do, and it's pretty solid so far. This year's upgrade is all about Siri AI, with many performance improvements under the hood, especially more reliable wireless CarPlay connections.
CarPlay is getting a ton of love this year. Beyond the major "Apple Intelligence" features coming to the phone itself, the in-car experience is getting some highly requested quality-of-life updates, accessibility features, and UI tweaks.
Here is a quick breakdown of what is coming to CarPlay later this year:

CarPlay is getting a ton of love this year. Beyond the major "Apple Intelligence" features coming to the phone itself, the in-car experience is getting some highly requested quality-of-life updates, accessibility features, and UI tweaks.
Here is a quick breakdown of what is coming to CarPlay later this year:
1. Apple Intelligence & Smart Siri
The Siri overhaul is the headline feature here
- New UI: Siri gets a slick new look with an animated, glowing light that wraps around the edge of the screen when active.
- Better Context: Siri can understand you even if you stumble over your words or change your mind mid-sentence, making it much safer to use while driving.
- Contact Photos: The Messages app now displays contact photos/avatars next to names in your conversation lists, making it much faster to glance and see who texted you.
- Apple Intelligence Summaries: If you get a barrage of texts in a group chat while driving, Siri can summarize the entire thread for you instead of reading out 20 individual messages.
Apple is bringing core iOS accessibility features directly into the vehicle:
- Sound Recognition: For drivers who are deaf or hard of hearing, CarPlay can listen for external sounds, such as car horns, sirens, or emergency vehicle sirens, and flash visual alerts on the dashboard screen.
- Voice Control: You can navigate the entire CarPlay UI entirely with your voice, controlling apps and buttons hands-free.
- Color Filters & Bold Text: You can now apply color filters across the entire interface (to help with color blindness) or toggle bold text for better at-a-glance readability.
- Silent Mode Sync: CarPlay will now automatically sync with your iPhone's Silent Mode settings.
- New Wallpapers: Apple added a handful of new official geometric and gradient wallpapers to refresh the background layout.
