OK, will give this a try! Thanks...The “This Trip” app.
Yes, Google Maps (iOS, Carplay) has shown the turns and flag destination distance on the IPD for some time. I remember when my car was new to me (September, 2023) I avoided using Google Maps specifically *because* it wouldn't show the upcoming turns on the IPD. But, I'm wondering if it always worked, just not in the first km or so of the trip? I've noticed the first turn doesn't always show up in the IPD, it seems to take a while to settle in.Hi,
Can someone please test this scenario for me?
I have always used iOS , CarPlay and google maps and never see instructions on the instrument cluster.
however today:
I start my car , CarPlay auto connects (wirelessly), then I choose the “this trip” ford tile. Then back to CarPlay, google maps and select a destination.
Now, I get the “flag and distance to destination” on the cluster and many turn-by turn directions!
this is new to me. Can anyone confirm it works (or not) for them??
I have done it 8 times today to see.
(Maybe other have know about this?)
thanks
(Just to clearly, NOT Apple Maps)
Hi, I use Android auto and Google Maps and I have gotten these direction arrows for over a year now but no the car will not preconditioning the battery, that only happens if You use the cars navigation.Hi,

I think the question is more to do with Google Maps using Apple CarPlay. Not Google Maps with Android Auto. Google Maps with Android Auto has always worked in the IPD.Hi, I use Android auto and Google Maps and I have gotten these direction arrows for over a year now but no the car will not preconditioning the battery, that only happens if You use the cars navigation.
On Google Maps You can now see how much battery % You will reach the destination with and it changes depending on Your driving and it is quite accurate.

(I still don't usually use Google Maps. I usually use Apple Maps with Siri for short impromptu trips to random locations. I use Connected Navigation with saved locations for my routine destinations since I know the route but still appreciate route suggestions, the ETA, and the IPD turns. I usually use Connected Navigation for executing long trips I've pre-planned with ABRP and Plugshare. But I've used Google Maps enough to know that the turns show up in the IPD.)
I am still not seeing turn by turn or flag destination while using Google maps with Apple CarPlay.
I have tried using both wireless and USB only CarPlay, my IOS on my iPhone is up to date (18.6.1) and my Mach-E latest update is the 1MPH update (IPC-25.7.46)
It is a 2021 Premium AWD with ER, I’m wondering if IOS 26 will be the “fix” or I’m waiting for the next software update on the Mach-E.
I don’t have the priority update for the IPC but the Google maps turns appeared in my IPC recently. I have concluded that this is being rolled out by Apple or Google in some form of controlled manner (at their server end), similar to Ford OTAs, which is why there is no pattern to who has it and who does not.Ok mine started working today! I did get the priority update for the instrument panel, but I don’t know if that was related?
