Lift Loop For Cargo Floor When Under Rubber Mat

I didn't like having to lift the rubber mat to then grab the handle to lit the floor.

So I found a Mach-Easy solution. I took the handle off the floor - 4 Phillips head screws from the underneath.
The handle clam-shells at the rear edge.

I happened to have one of those slip on dog leashes from my vet, and it fit right through the slit in the handle. I didn't need to cut the rubber floor,

After checking for fit/length, I just screwed the handle back together.
NOTE, you dont want the loop long enough to interfere with the liftgate latch.
Right now I just have it friction fitted and left the entire length laying on the floor, it ain't going nowhere, and I have an easy way to lift the floor.
Those gripper spikes are a bit sharp...

I take it you have the floor set in the upper position and use the extra space for storage? Otherwise for me (floor in the lowest position for 5 years now), it seems like a solution looking for a problem.

Yes, my floor is on the upper position, I like being able to us the under floor area for various small things without cluttering up the main area, so for me it was a problem that I solved...

I don’t yet have the OEM mat for the back area, but I do want to get one and will likely steal this as well when I do!

It wasn't really obvious to me as to how to lower the floor just by looking at it, but I gave it a shot.
I still like the usefulness of my pull strap...
Also, since I had it from my last 3 suvs (Escape, Explorer, and Cherokee), I set in a black harbor freight moving blanket, it's a perfect fit folded in half...
Edit, measured the blanket, it's 40"×72"...

Back in the day (Insert Pepperidge Farms Remembers meme here), when we were making reservations for this car that most of us hadn't even seen on a live feed, I neglected to order the interior protection kit (the weatherized floor mats was all back then). So I bought the mat set from a Ford Dealer online and had it shipped here. When the car finally completed its 16-week journey to Nowhere, Hawaii, I immeditaely tried to put the trunk area floor mat in, but it didn't fit. Obviously a Ford mix-up. Yeah, no. Putting the floor in the lower position solved the "Ford" misdesigned the matts issue . But it wasn't intuitively obvious. To me, anyway. No, I had not yet RTFM. IMO, the handle is still a good idea in either position, though.
