it’s simple if you won’t be retaining your old emblem. It’s slightly more challenging if you want to keep the existing emblem.
Thanks, but this doesn't really tell me what's involved.

I would SAVE the old one, because I might move it from the 2022 to a 2023 or 2024.

I will let John provide the write up. I may do a video as well but later.

First Drafts. These will get better.

Here are installation instructions for the Premium and CR1 models.

Here are instructions with additional options for First Edition. Select is probably like First Edition, but I need to confirm this.

I have a rough video that talks about tools and preparation with some very short clips from install. I'll get that posted to YouTube soon. The next time I do a full install on Premium, Select, and/or FE, I will take a good quality video.

If you are a backer and want to make a trip to Cincinnati in the next couple of days, I'd be willing to perform your install free to capture some video. It would have to be an evening between 5:30pm - 9pm.

I’m assuming (based on having removed my pony emblems for my EL wired one)
The original emblem has posts that go through the plastics of the front end. These posts are held on with push nuts and tough to get to. If you’re willing to snap those posts off, the emblem comes out pretty easy. If you want to reach the back of the posts to get the push nuts off, it can require some disassembly. I opted to snap the posts off mine and when I reapplied it, I just used emblem tape to hold it in place. Much easier to apply it that way and to get it back off in the future.

Sacrificing the posts will save some time Removing the old emblem. I am going to start including some thin double-sided tape for those that choose to use it instead of or in addition to my new starlock washers.

I received mine today when I got home from work. So I see what you sent now. I’ll just be using emblem tape to hold mine in place. Getting those washers on would be a major PITA in my opinion. ?

Congrats!!!

It took me just a moment, and I have fat hands. I still could squeeze a hand between the gap and with two fingers apply the star-lock washers. You've already done double-sided tape, so you know this is a viable option. Some people seemed leery of that. Good news is that you can do either or both and neither are hard ;).

I HIGHLY recommend some Posi-Taps

Got mine installed this morning. Super simple install, but then I’ve had my assorted trunks in and out a ton. Also played with a lot of the wiring while doing my EL wire pony.

So I did my install and your Star lock washers weren’t as bad as I expected. Managed to get them on with my magnetic tool to position them and a long screwdriver to seat them. What a nice clean look. Way better than my EL wire.

Are the early Premiums that were built at the same time as the First Editions really different?
Does anyone know? It would be weird if the First Editions were using a different headlight harness than the other Premium models being built at the same time. I have an early Premium (not First Edition), but am concerned that it may still require going through the firewall.

My wife’s premium that I just did has an FE harness. Built Nov 2020. You don’t HAVE to go through the firewall. I did (well I already had a wire run through there as part of my EL wire pony so I just used that). There is an option in the instructions to tap a different wire in the headlight harness that will just have the emblem lit even with the headlights off. Which I don’t think is a bad thing.

Hmm, okay thanks. That's pretty much what I figured. It's probably more accurate to differentiate by Job 1 or Job 2 rather than First Edition or not.
