Longer Lug Stud for MME

So I bought a set of factory Volvo C40 OEM wheels part # 321436305
I like the design and think they won't be a range killer.

The problem is the offset is not ideal. The Volvo wheels are 20x9 +58.5 63.4 center bore 5x108
I thought about doing spacers with lugs but I would need to cut the factory lug studs to install those.
Spacers with lug studs won't work for me because I run 2 sets of wheels and the winter ones are 19x8 +42

I tried to get the specifications on the factory lug studs but could not find the info anywhere so I bought a replacement hub from Rockauto.

After that searched to find something close here is what I found. This one is about 15mm longer so it would work perfectly with a 15mm spacer. Part #: S3-0-14-50-66-149 I recommend you get them from Eibach.com they offer free shipping.

So it arrived today and I tested fit it in the hub, and it will work.

Funny. When I tried these, they did not fit quite right. I compared the knurl diameter to the stock ones and it was just a tad off on mine. I could not use them with the spacers as they were just a tad loose. However, your OEMs are measuring smaller.

Could it be the aftermarket hub uses a non-factory size stud ? UGG, I will go pull a factory lug if 0.62 /15.8mm is the OEM MME an ICE Mustang / F150 stud would fit

It will take me some time to get one of the factory ones out (it's winter here) but if they are .62 then these will work and that's better because they are cheaper.

I would just double-check for sure. I was just not comfortable when I measured, and they were a bit loose. I saw bad things happening. I had talked to Eibach about it. I had to return the wheel spacers and bolts. I ended up trimming my OEM ones. If I take the spacers off, I will need new OEM bolts.

The Eibach one is the correct size for the aftermarket hub. Thanks for letting me know the factory hub may be different. I will verify the size of the ones installed on the car before I buy a whole set. Hopefully, they are like yours .062 because I can get a set for much cheaper.

I will caution against using a spacer where the center bore of the wheel is not in contact with the hub pilot. The studs are not supposed to support the weight of the vehicle. That is supposed to be taken up by the hub pilot. The studs control clamping force against the hub face and rotational force. ??

The Mach E has tapered lug nuts. Tapered lug nuts are considered a Lug-Centric setup. The tapered lug nuts center the wheel, and the load is supported by the friction/clamping force of the wheel against the hub. Clamping force is created by the lug nuts. This is likely why the lug nut torque spec on the MME is 150 ft/lbs to support a 5000lb vehicle. However, the MME also has a center bore at 63.4, which the wheels use to align like a pilot hole. This could be considered to be a hybrid hub-centric & lug-centric system.

I would for the most part agree it's best to support both lug & hub as Ford did. The spacers I have are hub-centric and the wheels support tapered lug nuts and are the correct 63.4 so this is an ideal setup

On a separate note where this gets confusing is most wheel balancers are hub-centric, so it becomes more important to use a hub ring on aftermarket wheels or have the correct 63.4mm hub wheels to prevent vibrations. If you have a very smart shop they have an adapter for their wheel balancers to lug centric balance. They usually only break out the lug-centric balancer adapter when the hub-centric balance has a vibration and customers complain.
