I recently noticed a rattling in my tailgate when I raised and lowered it. It sounded like something had come loose. Then, when trying to identify the problem, it looked like both tail light assemblies that are inside. The tailgate are loose from the outside. My guess is whatever is holding these in place came loose or was never properly secured. Anyone else have this issue? I had already planned a service appointment, so it is with the dealership now for assessment, as it is still under warranty.

Hey EssJayKay, I wouldn't even bother with the dealer on this one. This happened to me too. Just pop the inner tailgate panels off and you will see where the lamps are attached. Just re-secure them but not too tight. Should be a 10mm socket if I can remember. If it fell off just search around inside the hatch. (y)

Hi there! I can look into your Mach-E's rattle concern on my end. To get started, could you please send a private message over with the name/location of your local Ford dealer and your Mach-E's VIN?

Mine worked loose too. One of the nuts was on the last thread and a half of the tail light stud. I removed them one at a time and applied a tiny amount of blue Locktite to the ID of each nut, then cinched them down. ??

thanks for noticing @Ford Motor Company . I am thinking this may well be a minor, but important issue for Dealers to check/correct on Mach-es coming in for service work.... I.e. give a tap on the tail-lights and see if they are loose, and correct if needed for customer satisfaction and help make a 10k, 20k, 30k service visit worthwhile and prevent complaints.

Mine did this over a year ago and the dealer fixed it, we had a very old thread about this. On mine nuts came all the way off and were rattling inside the liftgate.

I would take it to the dealer because you may eventually get water leaking into the lift gate. Checkout Ford's Technical Service Bulletin TSB 23-2360.

same for me on my 2021 GT - I had the dealer fix it under warranty at 10K service.

Dealer fixed it and if it wasn't under warranty I likely would've done it myself. Otherwise agree that being a known issue it should be added to the regular inspection checklist. Additionally, nuts on a car should not loosen from normal driving, hopefully its just the ones on the taillights.

Agreed! I checked my tail lamps and the driver's side wiggles a little more than I'd like. I'll have to keep an eye on it. Wonder if a little loctite or a locking nut would help prevent them from loosening again.?

Same things here, tail lights coming off. That has had to be a crappy assembling job. Not the only things coming off though. Ford should just recall them all and fix it free of charge.
