This is just a theoretical question, no immediate need.
If you need to leave the car still for 5 or 6 weeks you will probably end up with a dead LVB. If you disconnect the LVB, can you then open the car with the emergency leads in the bumper or does the LVB need to be connected to work ? Don't know how the circuit is designed.

Have you read the other posts on storage, or the manual?

Charge to 50%. Unplug from charger. Disconnect 12v or put on a trickle charger.

The leads only work when there is no voltage, which is what exists when it is disconnected, so yes, they work fine.

As I explained on another thread, I have left my MME in my garage for 5-6 seeks in Feb-Mar at ~50% SoC for the past three years whilst I visited CT (from Rochester, NY) in my ICE. Every time I have returned I find my MME just the way I left it. Started up just fine. I just checked my LVB and Ford.com says it's at 100%.

Yes I did read many posts and the manual and I know about charging to 50%, but I did not notice an answer to the question about disconnecting the leads, I guess I missed the point.
Thanks for the answer.

Hi William,
I had seen your post, I just thought that disconnecting the leads might add an extra layer of protection, but wasn't sure if that would then make access impossible.

I go out of town every summer for 4-5 weeks. I leave it at whatever charge level is at. I came back and the car was fine.

Your LVB will not die. The MME will charge it from the HVB when needed. For 5-6 weeks the only thing you will notice is Fordpass likely won't work after a week or so since the car shuts down non-essential modules including the connection modem.

If you want to save wear and tear on your LVB, put a trickle charger on it - This will stop it from charge cycling.
If you want to minimize HVB battery aging, leave it between 30-50% SOC.

Otherwise, park it and leave it and it will pick up where you left off give or take a percentage or two.
