I got a Mach e recently and I’m wondering if my charge port has signs of wear from weather such as rain etc or if it has damage to it…. Only 2k miles on the vehicle. I provided an image. HELP.

What, specifically, are we looking at, please?

I’ve done 927 charges over 112500 miles & 46 months, mine looks like this…..

the inside of the barrel. You’ll see the black fading and it appears copper like now or bronze.
I think you’re OK.

The plastic end you see is the post on the two bottom DC pins which carry the metal connections further down the post.

Mine appear similar (attached).

It’s good to keep a check on them periodically, and also the condition of the connections of any charge plugs you use.

I have seen the very odd time where the plug welded to the charge port due, probably, to resistance heating.

The thing is, if an electrical connection is poor such that a resistance builds up there, that connection can still carry the same or less power so does not present symptoms of anything wrong to sensors and other safety systems but resistance heating builds up, the consequent effect of which is overheating or even fire.

Yes but mine looks slightly different as you have black on yours. The black on mine is faded and going bare. I’m not sure if it’s normal or something I’m doing wrong or problematic

Still looks OK to me.

On attached, the black plastic is the exposed part of the post arrowed in red whilst the metal electrical connection starting further down the post is arrowed yellow.

There’s nothing you can do wrong. No power goes through the plug/charge port connector until after you connected, the car has communicated with charge port & vice versa and the systems are ready to deliver power.

So, apart from keeping dirt & moisture out, you shouldn’t be able to affect anything.

That’s on photographs, though, any doubt let your dealer take a look.
