Anyone have a reference for total cargo weight that can safely be loaded into the frunk and rear cargo space? Not going to haul stone or bags of concrete mix, but would consider 8-10 40# bags of softener salt, or 7 cartons of laminate flooring, or my wife's Costco shopping cart(s) contents!

I assume it can't be too impressive, given the weight of the battery cells and because it's not listed in the Ford OM and every "specifications listing" I've found online fails to mention it.

I just want some idea of when we can use the MME and when it is time to use my diesel GMC Canyon. Thanks.

Peace/Out

I would say 150 pounds max in the frunk.

120 pounds max in the trunk with the floor in the upper position. 350 pounds max in the trunk with the floor in the lower position. Additional bags should go on the seats or in the footwells.

Yes, but remember you can't put all the weight in the trunk. Has to be spread out.

That's your payload. Everything you added to the car after purchase (mats, etc.), then the people, then the stuff you keep in your frunk. What's left, well that's (here it comes, sorry/not sorry, Go Blue) for you to fit all your pizza delivery stuff... (yeah, I did it). ?

And no joke on the lower trunk floor position for heavier loads. Don’t ask me how I know.

You previously posted (https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/weight-limit-in-trunk.7102/post-215318) slightly different values (30 pounds more upper and 50 pounds less lower) and since I respect your opinion I figured it's worth getting a clarification. Are your 2024 numbers the best to use?

I forgot what I said before, ha. No it's the same design, I just think the load with the floor in the upper position needs to be respected carefully because of the tendency for the load to bounce up and down going over bumps. So if you think about adding a 2:1 safety factor for dynamic movement ~125 lbs seems like a good target. Going over a bump could overload the supports if you're close to the limit. The position of the load also matters, right behind seats is worse than closer to the opening.

No issue have been reported with the load floor in the lower position, but the upper weight limit is more related to overloading the rear axle weight limit. If you do the statics calculation with people or objects in the back seat, the trunk weight limit is about 300 pounds to not overload the rear axle. With no one in the rear seat, you could go a little higher on the weight, to perhaps 350 pounds. Remember the structure is not designed to have the entire weight of rear axle load limit located in the trunk, so if the total weight is more than about 300 pounds it needs to be distributed forward into the seats as well.
