You can say that again, would solve the problem of so many people having to bug the dealer, Ford corporate etc etc etc. Customer satisfaction would increase 10 fold, all they have to do is make this information available to the customer. Communication is key in 2021, it shouldn't be that hard to keep the customer informed, even if basic info would do.

Dear John Smith,

We apologize for the additional delay, we are estimating your MME should arrive at our "Quality Check" facility by X date or about that. We are anticipating it will take an additional 14 days for your MME to pass thru our quality check point and then will be in transit to your dealer. Here is your updated delivery date X.
And when it doesn't happen because of some other reason? They have a new angry hord. They can never win.

Is there any single car company that will give you detailed tracking of your car as it moves from factory to dealer/customer? I'm really curious to know.

I know Tesla doesn't, and Ford doesn't.

Just because none of them do, doesn't mean that they shouldn't. When FedEx started, none of their competitors provided useful tracking. Not USPS, not UPS, not Airborne (remember them?) Today all of them do. I remember buying something and the shipper wouldn't provide tracking until a delivery attempt had been made. Today, it is expected, and everyone does it. Sure sometimes it exposes them to ridicule (like the time I ordered something from Chicago, and USPS delivered it to Phoenix by way of Puerto Rico), but it makes the customer feel empowered by providing them with information.

I never claimed they shouldn't. But they can't change everything all at once. This is the first time they have done this from an online system.

Ford is probably using multiple delivery channels and I don't think their tracking is as mature as FedEx, etc. Ford gives a message when it is produced and when its shipped. They would have to integrate, into an automated system, the rest of it. Years of legacy systems.

I feel like there is a lot outrage over some of this stuff that isn't a big deal. The car will get there when it gets there. Knowing if it is a particular city, doesn't really help anything, does it? I want their priority focused on the car itself.

Hopefully, a few years from now, it will be better.

I just checked. My car is on the list.
Mine was too as well as another issue I learned about but I'm not quite sure what it is. Whatever it was, it required my MME be sent to Michigan.

Your vehicle has the same issue as mine.

Of course, it is of no consequence if I say the issue is so minor I could care less about the issue being resolved on my vehicle. We both wait for vehicles.

I think you're cutting Ford way too much slack. What they don't seem to appreciate is if they don't step up and recognize what consumer expectations are now, then they will slowly disappear into the sunset and be replaced by other companies that better understand how to compete in the 21st century.

It may not be easy, but it's not rocket science either. People have been integrating legacy systems for 25 years now.

What other companies? I asked that question before.

Not a car company, but if there a more hidebound outfit than USPS, I don't know it. Yet USPS has improved and grudgingly moved into 21st century.

Ford has 2 jobs. Make cars that work consistently, and deliver them to dealer lots. Judging from MME experience, there is a lot of room for improvement on both counts.

Comparing USPS to Ford is not a fair comparison. Its not even the sector. Ford has to compete with their competitors, not USPS.

Yes, USPS doesn't have as many competitors, although there is FedEx, UPS, Amazon and others. Yet USPS has done better than Ford. USPS is able to track a small 4"X6" envelope. Ford is unable or unwilling to track a 2+ ton vehicle. Did I mention that Ford is charging us $1,100 delivery fee?

Technology has been around for over 20 years for this. It's no excuse that other car makers are just as hopeless.

USPS is the one delivering the package. Ford is using 3rd parties. Again, not comparable. Also, USPS has a habit of delivering my package to the wrong house. Compared to UPS/FedEx, they are utter crap.

Come on, get real.

Regardless of your arguments, COVID, etc., Ford has to be and will be held accountable for these launch issues. I have a MME GT reserved and if it experiences similar launch glitches, I won’t hesitate to cancel the GT and purchase another brand.

My only argument was regarding a detailed tracking of car delivery. It would be best if the car was perfect. It isn't, so second best thing (in my opinion) would be to fix issues before customers get them, which is where the whole, "quality checks" thing came from.

Just sent a birthday gift to my Dad. USPS 2-day, NY to Fla, $41 for 11 pounds....took 4.5 days.
Tracking showed it arrive in Rochester at the end of day 1, in transit until the morning of day 5 when it appeared in Ybor City, then seemingly accurate tracking till it was delivered.

That's tracking, of a sort, but not very impressive. Not timely shipping either, and that's what USPS does. I have nothing against USPS, but this disappointed me.
