My 2025 was diagnosed with a dead TCU (modem) on 11/18/2025 and the part showed up this past Tuesday ... replaced today. Is your delay because of the part of the dealership? I was told by Ford Corp that the part was delayed by a chip shortage.

Same issue on a '21 mustang, I cant connect it to the FORD app and Im unable to update my software .. when going into diagnostics mode (volume down+previous number) in connectivity tab it shows everything connected. Also the up/down arrow are visible in the display. Called the number in the FORD app and they tried to ping it which didnt work and said modem needs to be replaced, bring it to the garage.. Took like 2 minutes, was able to make an appointment for februari 16th.. this is horrendous
Does warranty still cover that or did they give you estimated cost to repair?

since I already tried the fuse thing it will most likely be a TCU swap. The car is 4 years old so not covered by warranty. Diagnostics will cost 125 euros, the TCU 961 euro and then labour hours on top.. so it will be expensive

The TCU is easy to access on these cars. Get the part number off of yours, and buy a used one on ebay with the same part number and swap it. The dealer should not charge more than one hour of labor to program it with FDRS.

125 for diagnostics, 961 for a TCU and then additional labour hours

I left mine with the dealership while I was on vacation and picked it up yesterday with a new TCU. Everything is working again like it did when the car was new. Phew! Two months, almost to the day, between the part breaking and having it all fixed up.

FYI for anybody who is going through something similar: I called the Ford Connected services help line yesterday once the car was working, and it looks like they're going to extend all my connected/BlueCruise/etc. trials for 52 days based on the 60 days those services didn't work (they calculated 52 based on the day the dealership did a hard reset of the car to try to fix it, which somehow pinged connected services, rather than from the day it broke). But if you had a similar situation, definitely call and get your services extended for free based on the time they weren't usable!

Got it.....it shows your Fordpass connected, but your vehicle has not reported itself to the cloud since 11/14. On 11/20, you were sent GWM update ECG-25.2.7.7.1 which timed out and failed because your car never pinged the server back to accept it. So, there does seem to be some kind of connectivity issue, but without being able to see the codes, I cannot see anything useful. If you have FORScan or a code reader, pull the codes it is reporting.

The only thing I can suggest is you disconnect the negative cable from your 12v battery for 20 minutes to hard reset everything and see if connectivity is restored when you reconnect the battery.

My car still isn't fixed, and still can't connect.

It's currently at the dealer and they are saying that Ford is telling them my car is connected to the network. Super weird. My app still isn't showing vehicle information and the information on ford.com isn't updated either. I just asked them to check if YouTube works or Alexa, and also look for the signal strength bars on the main screen.

If you're able to take a look at when it last updated, I'd appreciate it.

Also hit you on PM...sorry to spam. After I sent it I realized it would be good for others to see the update if it's relevant to them.

No worries. It is "connected" but the connection seems to be limited or not working at all. It shows the modem is connected via Ford App, but also says no connected data is available in the past 60 days and I cannot see any connected data like tire pressures, battery SoC or any codes it may be reporting.

Also, OTA history shows updates continue to be sent and expire because your car is not pinging the server back to accept them. You have two active OTA triggers sitting in queue right now that the vehicle is not downloading.

Unfortunately, I can no longer access vehicle history to see what the dealer has tried. Could be TRON is broken, but that is an easy fix that I would assume the deler already tried. Being able to see the codes it is reporting should be a big help, but without connected data being reported, we're in the dark here as to what the problem is (or could be; not everything can be easily diagnosd remotely based on codes).

Appreciate your help!

This is getting (more) frustrating. The dealer has had the car since 2/2 and it’s now 2/11. They have no loaner cars and Ford will only comp a Ford rental. I’ve called 20 rental offices and no one has a ford. Everyone at ford on the BEV team has been very nice, but no one is able to help.

The dealer is not exactly inspiring confidence. Yesterday I got the following text.

“My tech is asking if you can grant us access through the Ford app so we can double-check that the SYNC apps are working properly by connecting our shop cell phone to the vehicle. I’d like to make sure the YouTube app is functioning as it’s supposed to.”

I immediately responded asking them why they need to connect a phone, and for instructions on what they want me to do. I haven’t heard from them since.

They need the user name and password for your Fordpass account to test things out. I've seen dealers ask for this in the past. You can always change the password later. Call the service advisor tomorrow and give him or her the info.

Edit: The dealer can just remove it from Fordpass and add it to their own account for troubleshooting. I would not have an issue giving them my login myself, but just FYI.

Thanks.

They never replied on Tuesday when I asked what they needed me to do in the app, but they just replied to say it’s fixed. Though, they want me to stop by in the morning to see if my phone connects to the car. I never had issues with PAAK during this whole issue, so I’m a bit nervous. They’re avoiding the question when I ask if the connected apps work.

Here’s what they say they did -

Performed PMI on TCU; concern still present. Performed hardware test on TCU—no issues found. Performed module provisioning on TCU; noted dBm stuck at 0, could not be completed. Performed Pinpoint Test B in WSM 418-00. B1: Checked network connection—TCU passes network test, proceed to B2. B2: Checked for DTCs—no DTCs in TCU, proceed to B3. B3: Reset module in question—reset TCU by performing PMI and depowering module for 2 minutes. AuthMode indicates provisional mode. Checked for updated software—GWM and TCU are up to latest level. Checked the Ethernet circuit for an open—disconnected GWM and TCU.

New update. I kept asking if the connected apps like YouTube or Karaoke work.
Those apps seem to be missing.

The updates may not be released for your VIN. They're secondary, imo. First order of business is to get connectivity working again. I checked earlier and it didn't seem like connectivity was working yet.

Oh crikey. I definitely used to have YouTube and Karaoke. It’s a 2025, so it came with them.

without those, what’s the best way to show them that connectivity still isn’t working?

I really appreciate your help!!
