I observed that my Mach-e ('25 premium, standard range, RWD) would not charge when it was at 97%. I tried both my Ford charger, and a portable charger that I have used when traveling. Neither worked. I had no problem charging once the level was down below 85%. It seems that there is some sort of top off limit. Does anyone know what the max state of charge is that will allow a charing session to begin?

Why charge if the SOC is 97%?

The 25’s SR have an LFP battery, so charging to 100% isn’t an issue. Nonetheless, your point is probably valid, that additional 3% is only going to yield around 9 miles.

@schuman1048, was the charging ring flashing blue when you plugged the charger in? If it was it was charging. The last few percentage points takes forever. Does, your EVSE have a schedule set? And finally, what is your car’s schedule set to in the car?

The charging ring flashed blue for a few seconds, then stopped. Everything was set to charge immediately.

I agree, 3% is less than 10 miles, so not a big deal. But I was about to go on a long trip, and those 10 miles might be the difference between stopping once, or stopping twice. In the end, I drove somewhere else first, then charged to 100% before going on the long trip.

Yes the LFP does not like charging if it is already at 97% or higher. Just a quirk of the system
Will it charge at 96%, 95%? do you know the limit?

Thanks,

Is the battery out of calibration? When’s the last time you calibrated it?
