MachE Fast Charge Speed vs Lightning Charge Speed

This weekend was my fist time charging the Lightning at a Tesla Super Charger. I have been doing this with the MachE Premium for over a year so I have a bit of a track record on this. The MachE never seemed to get over 105 kW/hr charge rate but the Lightning went as high as 180 kW/hr rate. This is a huge difference.
To clarify, I have probably done 10 fast charges with the MachE and 2 with the Lightning. There is a huge difference between the two vehicles. Is this normal.
2023 MachE Premium vs 2024 Lightning XLT. Has anyone had a similar experience, seems that maybe the MachE is not charging correctly.

I looked up some old entries of mine in Plugshare from when I had my 23 MME CR1, 135kW at a Tesla charger. By contrast, I have got as high as 190kW with my Lightning at a Tesla charger and regularly get in the mid-high 180kW range to start.

I agree your 105kW in your MME seems lower than it should be. Lots of variables here though.... Could be the adapter, weather, battery temperature, charger conditions (temperature, demand, location specific settings, etc.), or a car issue. Which battery do you have in your MME? The SR and ER have different chemistries and different charge speed/curves.

ER battery. I use Android auto so the pre-conditioning of the battery is done as well. The car dictates the rate of charge so there must be something happening that the car dow not alllow faster charging. Both vehicles have the same battery chemistry.

Yes, this is normal. I have a 22 Mach-E (ER) and a 22 Lightning (ER), and the Lightning has always been faster. Recently, the Lightning's charging curve was updated, and I have seen speeds as high as 193kW. The Mach-E SR with the LFP battery charges slower than the Mach-E ER.

The Lightning charges faster because it simply has a bigger battery and it also has more robust thermal components to handle more heat.

The MachE battery is the 91 kWh battery rated for 150 kWh charging rate. My lightning is the SR 98 kWh battery, not much of a battery size difference. I am just surprised that the difference is so large. I get that the heat management is better in the lightning but almost 1/2 the speed is quite the difference.

Mac E only hits 150 for a couple minutes of the charge, 105 is pretty stable until around 70% and then another drop.

The Mach-E will peak over 150, but settle in the 115 range, then slow down. The Lightning will peak over 190, settle in the 125 range as I recall.

Yes, the Lightning is faster. You're also getting 40% less efficiency in your driving...
