Tesla just opened their first V4 Supercharger in Canada either yesterday or today. With it being the closest DCFC station to my home, I just had to try it.
Well, I first tried to use up the last $20 remaining in my free $100 of charging from PetroCan that expires today but PetroCan had other ideas. After 10 attempts with both chargers, resetting, sitting, and wasting an hour of my time I said f it, and went to the Tesla station. Essentially waving goodbye to that last $20 of free charging.
Overall, it wasn’t bad with the brand new V4 station. A quick google explained how to release the “MagicDock” which I’m pretty sure is the same adapter as what Ford is sending all of us, soon….
The FordPass app lists the station as incompatible with the Mach E, Tesla lists it as requiring an adapter. So I pulled out the cable and MagicDock and plugged it in to see what would happen. Nothing happened, no charging, no handshake, nothing. Unplugged and activated via Tesla app, plugged in and nothing, again. Tried activating via the Tesla app one more time and it started charging!
They are not the fastest speeds I’ve hit with the Mach E charging, but are the most consistent above 100kW that I’ve seen.
