Just picked up car from dealer. Went in for rear hatch water ingress TSB and the ecall recall software update (21C16).

Get in car and start it, suspect that there has been some sort of reset as main centre screen is in light mode. Instrument Cluster is in dark mode. (I always keep both in dark).

I also have the Notes app now so there has been a general udpate also, unsure to what version.

Digging through the settings I find my profile and all other settings are the same...no reset seemingly? I make my way into the Display settings to get rid of the retina burning light mode. Both instrument cluster and centre screen are already set to Dark mode despite the centre screen being in light mode. Odd, I'll toggle the setting...no change.

I toggled the instrument cluster between dark and light and it responds accordingly. Same cannot be said for centre screen. Auto, Light, Dark....stays stuck in light mode.

Powered off car. Restarted and tried again. Still stuck.
Did Sync soft reset. Still stuck.
Did master reset. Still stuck.
Swapped between guests and my profile. Still stuck.
Left in auto and driven at night. Still stuck.

I'm sort of out of ideas now.

As an aside my dealership have seemingly left a light cluster unplugged as the left side hatch lights dont illuminate. Going to have to return for that. I cant help but feel my rear view mirror is stuck in auto dip also...it seems much darker and I can make out a border in the glass as if it's darkened.

I think I now also have the Instrument Cluster buzz which I did not before. Im unsure if this is coincidence (and I only just noticed now) or because of the update.

Anyway...any suggestions to resolve perma retina burning light mode would be welcome!

You can try doing a master reset to see if that fixes it and/or disconnect the 12v as that resolves some wonky stuff.

I think you've probably always had the buzzing and never noticed it. The frequency of the buzz changes with the brightness of the IPC, so adjust that lower or higher and you may find a level that makes it "go away" again.

I also got mine back from the dealer today, with the same stuck light mode you have.

So i went back in and asked the dealer, and he said it was a known bug, but he thought it was fixed in the version i got. But obviously not.

Haven't found a fix yet myself

Some further diagnosis. As part of the issue my centre screen no onger plays any startup animation. get the instrument cluster animation but the centre screen stays pitch black until it eventually just appears on the landing screen with widgets etc.

Dealer put a newer update on. Quoted 21174 which doesnt mean a lot to me compared to the updates I've seen posted (1.7.1 etc)

Either way my stuck in light mode is resolved. Still no startup animation on screen though *shrug*
