Yesterday we drove to Indy on I65 using Blue Cruise. We’re at 2.8.3. The map and directions suggested that we exit at ever exit and then immediately get back on the interstate. What’s up with that? This is the second time we’ve been on I65 using Blue Cruise and the first time we’ve seen this.

I’ve only seen this before in the past on very badly calibrated traffic aware GPS. Basically where the GPS thinks you can save a minute by skipping that little bit of traffic between the exit and entry to the highway. But, in reality, the GPS just doesn’t have the traffic data for the ramps and therefore thinks you can just speed up and down them at full freeway speeds to bypass slow downs on the highway — without realizing that all the stopping and starting would negate any benefit of this strategy.

Not sure if that’s what’s going on here, but it’s a guess ?‍.

Interesting. Now that you mentioned GPS, I should have mentioned that the GPS also routed us strangely and showed times to the destination that were radically different than what our real time was expected to be. Maybe the extremely hot weather we’re experiencing (it was 99 while driving) has an effect on the GPS.

Hmm, that’s interesting.

Can I ask — I see you are using an iPhone. What’s stopping you from using CarPlay and Apple Maps instead? Now that it supports full screen, routing via chargers, and directions on the instrument cluster, it seems like a no-brainer to me to be using that over Ford’s system.

Maybe the Mach E knew you needed to take a restroom break.

Brave soul using Ford's mapping in the car. No good answer for you though. I do notice that overall BlueCruise does not seem to like 65. South of Indy I get constant disengage/re-engage every 1-3 miles even in straight stretches. Something seems off about the mapping. It was my top note in the BlueCruise survey they did the other day.

You need to go into settings and unselect "Always Use Scenic Route". ?

Call me a nerd, but it on longer drives like this I like to run both Waze on my iPhone and the Sync map on the vehicle just to see if they agree.
