I don't agree, preconditioning will keep the battery much warmer than the very cold temps outside. This effect will last hours after you unplug. Being warm will help with the longevity of your batteries health. Batteries are much more expensive than the small cost of preconditioning

Where I will agree with you is it's not free. Preconditioning may not save you money over just driving the car.
The battery will likely outlast the car whether you precondition or not.

Funny how your advice is so much better than anyone else’s…..
Not better than anyone else’s. There are many smarter people on this forum. More technologically adept people, better connected people, and many Ford Employees with inside knowledge.

But talk about funny. You’ve owned an EV for a month and are giving advice to others. While I have had 2 MME in my garage for 2.5 years. For a brief time I owned three. Collectively 5 years of ownership. So I do tend to think my experience may be more valuable than yours.

I too wish you the best. I wasn’t causing drama, I simply asked that you not give poor advice to other newbs as we try to be helpful round these parts. While resetting the driving history to factory will not blow up OPs car, it will also not help them learn what their car is capable of in a Michigan winter, which was the purpose of their post. I will consider this dead horse sufficiently beaten.

There are so many variables. For me temperature, speed, and charging level (85%-100%) matter most. I mostly drive highway miles and set the cruise at 77. I also like to be comfortable and refuse to freeze myself or sweat (like I did squeezing electric miles out of my volt and bolt).

I generally experience 2 miles per kWh in the winter and 3 miles per kWh in the summer. On supper cold days (below zero) or super fast days (drive 80+ mph), I expect less than my average, and vice versa.

Cold weather impacts efficiency (miles per kWh) not battery life. Doing mostly short trips in Chicago with premium AWD ER on winter tires, I experienced 35-40% range loss in Jan timeframe.
I have the same version just SR but have the same experience as yourself there in terms of the range loss in winter. Buts thats all it is. Just a case of using the heating more in the winter.
