Mobile Apps button not functional

Under Connectivity, my Mobile Apps button is grayed out. My Android phone is obviously Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connected, because Google maps, phone, text, and Spotify are all working. What am I missing? I don't even know what other apps they are talking about.

It's greyed out for me too. I have no issues using any CP-enabled app in my car that I give a hoot about.

This function is enabled only when an app capable of SmartDeviceLink is launched on the mobile connected to the SYNC and the app icon will appear in the Apps page on the screen.
Some apps are listed here:

but there are some more, I use Radioplayer.
This has nothing to do with Android Auto or Carplay, but the number of apps is so limited that it's much more useful Android Auto or Carplay.
