They could include a gold bar on the driver's seat with every purchase and they would continue to watch sales tank.

As for the car itself, it moved from one ubiquitous blob to a different blob. No thanks.

Model Y never looked like a cohesive design. Always looked like a mishmash of Model 3 and other teslas put together. I can’t understand why designers wouldn’t start with the Y, then bastardize other models based off of it. It is the most compelling product Tesla makes. Everything else is a waste of time and at best gap fillers ??‍♂.

Good for Ford. Let’s see designs for the next Mach-E pls.

Because the old Y drives like ass. Everything about the old/new 3 is wonderful (except NVH) and the Y is just a stretched chunky unlovable version of it.

My main complaint is lack of proper 360 degree camera view. I don't see the point in the computer generated black/grey blobs when near to walls etc. I need pin-point accuracy which is what I have with the MME due to a very narrow driveway with little stone columns each side. I can line up perfectly using the yellow dotted line either side in the top down view. (In fairness ANY other car with a proper top down view will be better than the Tesla implementation).
+1

While the new system works very well it is not reliable for very tight spots. I argue it's better than most 360 cameras for parking planning as it shows you the potential parking spots but once you get close to obstructions it's impossible to trust.

Still, I am amazed Tesla even implemented the 360 vision system because they were adamant against a 360 camera. It's also hilarious that Tesla finally implemented a rear traffic alert after 3-4 years of folks complaining about it lacking.

It’s not wise to go against the grain on all things. Sure, legacy OEMs are a bit complacent and resist change. But the newcomers should not reject the status quo for the sake of being different. 360 cameras and rear cross traffic alert are both very useful.

This quote perfectly captures the reason why I bought a Mustang Mach-e. I understood that purchasing a Tesla Model Y would have been the easy button. But even in the mid summer, I just felt gross buying a Tesla. What should have been a no-brainer… wasn’t. It’s not like I was buying a Ford to protest Tesla, it was more of a classic brand problem… I want to feel good about something I use so often. And the Ford makes me feel good.

At the moment I purchased the Ford, I remember thinking that the model 3 and Y want to be the Corolla and RAV4 of vehicles. I would have bought an unassuming, ubiquitous blob. When was the last time anyone shook their fist at a polite RAV4 driver? Or protested at Toyota dealer? And bear in mind that Toyota has been actively lobbying against cleaner transportation. But who gets mad at the parent in the RAV4?

But even in the summer, I couldn’t buy the unassuming thing. The latter day D.F. Malan and the community that has imprinted on him is allergic to humility. From Pedo-guy onward, he’s been confidently vapid and a happy lightening rod. He’s a CEO who is open, even proud, of the substances that are eating his brain. That’s a choice, but I don’t want to be a part of it. Feels icky.

The Model Y should absolutely meet the market as a transportation appliance. But now it wants tiny Apartheids-era South African flags flying off its front quarter panels. I take no joy in the soiling of Tesla’s brand. An engineering team 100% delivered on the correct goal. It’s an evolution of the formula. It’s a RAV4 - not a blob, but definitely ubiquitous. Their labor deserves ubiquity. Alas…

I didn’t think it was possible to make that car even uglier. I stand corrected.
I need to see the side profile. I actually think the new headlights are an improvement. But if it still has the stubby hood androgynous bubble profile, that’s a hard pass for me. I‘m just not gonna settle for a Prius shape to get 0.2mi/kWh more efficiency. Also I just don’t think I can give up Apple CarPlay.

A friend said the same thing. Adamant about it. He leased a Rivian R1T and then a few months later... a Blazer EV - both without CarPlay or AA. He doesn't care anymore. Doesn't miss it.

Folks who will trade their Tesla or MME for a Rivian R2... will learn not to care either.

Well… if someone handed me $40k to trade up my MME FE to an R1S, sure, I’d learn to not care. But if it’s my money, it would definitely be a consideration.

If Tesla ever allows for 2PD, I'd consider one.

Wife and I can't get used to the 1PD drive - we are older and difficult to learn new tricks....
You don't have to use 1-pedal in a Tesla. My wife refuses to accept 1-pedal and kept it turned off the entire 5 years that our Model Y was her daily driver -- we just sold it last week.

A face only a mother would love.

Notice no badging on the front. Saves the owner the trouble of removing it to pass it as an Audi ?
