Leave it unlocked when it's in your garage then.
I tried that, but I like the lock-away feature too much. Yes, I would agree if this is my biggest issue, then life is pretty good. Just my biggest pet peeve.

What weight sensor (in the back seat)? And how would the weight sensor differentiate between a heavy car seat and a small child?
If you leave something in the back seat and turn off the car you get a message warning you there is something in the back. This feature can be disabled in Sync. It is obviously a very good idea if there is any chance a child will be transported. Re the difference between a car seat and a child, not sure. My experience when I first bought the car was it was very sensitive, so the car seat would likely set it off, but it is just a visual reminder. As I said, I am long past the time in life when this was an issue for me.

That's interesting - so maybe the one time I throw a bag into the back seat the car will remind me, but no reminder when the back seat is empty?

I have car seats permanently installed in my back seat and so I always get the reminder to check the back seat (whether there are kids in the car seat or not), which is why I didn't realize the car doesn't always provide that reminder. A nice feature for non-car-seat-users, but doesn't replace the motion sensor. :)

LOL - as I have said, I am still not 100% sure what purpose they serve other than to seem fancy. Don't see how they would prevent a theft that would not be covered by lock/door alarms, and how they would protect a forgotten occupant not covered by weight sensor. Anyway, not a huge bit deal.
The purpose of the motion sensors is so if a thief broke the window to steal something, the alarm will go off. Otherwise they can smash and grab without the alarm being set off as long as they don't open a door.

It's based on whether the rear door was opened or closed. There are no weight sensors in the rear seats. So if you open and close the rear door without putting anything in, then drive it, you'll get the rear seat alert when you park even though there's nothing back there.

Thanks for the clarification!
