I purchased a Mustart cable for another EV but like it and have used it solely for the past year charging both vehicles. Not sure if I just never noticed before, but lately it has been getting extremely hot (6 inches right out of the plug) during charging. Uncomfortably hot to wrap your hand around. Tonight I dug out the Ford cable and that is just warm.
Any electrical guys care to share their opinion? Is there a problem with the Mustart? Dangerous to keep using?

Thank you

I think you are talking about a sealed cable. Stop using it, it's probably damaged and will just get worse until it fails or starts a fire.

It's not UL listed. That's why I avoided this one. Granted that a unit can still be good without that additional testing. I've read reviews. I didn't want another mobile style unit. The Ford one will be that.

I read the title of this post to be about hot mustard, and I was like ā€œI love Dijon, what’s the problem with this and the Mach E?ā€

Leave it to the guy with a car called ā€œMach ā€˜n’ Cheeseā€ to think of mustard. ??

The next thing you know, ā€œopinionā€ threads will be about onions. ??

If they were good marketers, they would make this charger out of yellow plastic at least, so it could be a humorous conversation starter before it sets your car on fire ? ?
